Road conditions - latest reports HP/Ladakh

we (2) alongwith our elders(2) and kids (2)are planning to visit manali during 1st week of novemeber 2008 in a package tour.

Generally how is the whether conditions during that time? what type of clothes we should take with us?

we will also be taken to Rohtang Pass. How is that during Nov 1st week. will the roads be open?

No one can predict the future, but GENERALLY Rohtang is open during that time. If there's sudden snowfall like has happened now, that you'll only come to know on the day.

I've answered your Q about weather in your other thread, this one is for roads/traffic only.

There was heavy snow fall on Baralachala and the road to Leh from Manali is Blocked , many have been stranded .
There is plenty of snow on Kunzum la and the road is blocked to Kaza .
Rescue operations are on
hopefully it will get through in the next couple of Days .

Hi, we're a group of six on three Bullets planning to ride from Bombay to Manali next week. We wanted to know how safe is the ride, considering we have 3 female pillion riders. We're planning to ride in daylight. Particularly the safety in Rajasthan (Udaipur-Jodhpur-Nagaur-Fatehpur), Haryana (Hissar-Ambala) and the weather in Himachal (till Kullu), any leads will be deeply appreciated.

I am planning to take a trip to Leh, with the current road conditions, need information as to how long the manali leh highway would remain open? I plan to take the trip in the second or third week of October.

Hi, no one can predict it is usually open till october end, or bcoz of bad weather it can cloase any time, better to come back by plane from leh to delhi.

Manali leh highway is open.

I arrived yesterday in Shimla from Tabo.
I travelled by bus. The road is awful, but can be done.
Malling was blocked and I had to cross it by foot, but it is quite easy. Luckily my backpack was sent to the other side by cable!!!
When I left Tabo on Sept 28th the road to Kaza was still closed.

Im headed off to Shimla again by next week...would appreciate a quick update on the road now , esp Zirakpur , Parwanoo....its only been about 2 months since i went last..but hoping there have been some improvements..
