Recommended Trek - 3-4 days
Hi, I'm looking to do a 4 day approx trek on my forthcoming visit to North India. I really want a trek where I'm in the high altitude desert, over the raincloud, with real 'vastness' - if that makes sense. A few years ago I did the around Annapurna which was ok, but too much 'green' for my liking.
I'm looking for spectacular vast open spaces. I hope this makes sense.
I'm planning on flying from Delhi to Leh and then working my way down. I guess I can see this type of scenery in either Leh/Ladakh or Spiti.
Can anybody particularly recommend such a trek for this period of time. Thanks/

Welcome to IndiaMike! I did Around Annapurna too, some years ago. I have done several treks in India, but mostly the green-grassy-foresty kind. Have'nt done a trek in Leh-Ladkah-Spiti area myself. I know, there are many trek trails of the kind you are looking for there. I am sure soemone will come along and help you on that soon enough, here on IM. I will be going to Leh-Ladakh in Sept but that will be a road trip not a trek. Best,

That's not much time to get out in the wide open vastness, but you could do Hinju/Phanjila to Chilling in 4 days Leh to Leh. A trek that fits your description would be Rumste to Tso Moriri but that will take you 8 days with an agency but you could do it on your own in 6-7. You could also maybe just do half from Tso Kar to Rumste you could do that in 4 days but you need to be acclimatized as it is very high 5400 m pass and most of the trek above 4500 m.
hi guys,
we are also looking for a similar kind of trek in September. We are looking for the trek 'Mount Stock Kangari'. But what would you guys suggest. And also which would be better, through an agency or doing the trek ourselves.
Thx!

depends on your expertise at that altitude ,terrain, night trekking etc.I would go with a local expert who knows the area inside out. It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare dream of meeting your heart's longing.
