Unhappy

Thanks for the advice, but what if the same rule applies there as well? afterall, I cannot get permission is because as border neigbour, they want to control all unexpected border crossing, with Himalaya or not...
At least I know in Siklim, Chinese have same difficulty.

I don't see any reason why you would not be allowed to trek in Uttaranchal or Himachal. Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal are so called disputed areas. So, they might be careful about them.

I actully called the tourist agent in Ladakh, they did told me the inner line permission can not be issued to Chinese.
Even with that realiztion, I could not find a map properly indicate where exactly can I reach without permission...

Tso Kar would be too dry for mid October...
Where can I go???

This means that you are ... "doomed" to satisfy yourself with all the areas that don´t need permits : west of the Manali-Leh highway , and excluding Nubra.

Mid-October it starts to get seriously cold ,esp. higher than Leh , I hope you have the experience and gear to deal with it.

What do they check in those checking points? only the permission peper or together with passport and visa?
Any chance I just make photo copy permission from any Jepaness girl in same time period??
(though it sounds desperate, but beleive me I am only a tourist, not tempting anything crazy )

Montains is what I am aiming for... south India will have to wait, too hot in October anyway

Had experience in Annapuna circle (Nepal)in Janury, but to campling outdoor is certainly different story.

lynnjin frankly you should have tried your area of the region especially the Tibet area, being a Chinese it would have given kind of the same effect with lesser headache.

Issue with you not getting a permit is to due with the border dispute which unfortunately both our countries share - it would be the same case if I wanted to visit / trek in border mountain areas while visiting your country.

My suggestion why don't you try Stok Kangri or hemis Markha trek you wont require permits for that and try to get into a package trekking trip conducted by any reputed tour operator.

alternatively maybe you can try the south Indian hills

It´s from a walk out from Nubra , at the southern side of the Digar La. I extended my Nubra permit by trekking out. Sabo is further down.

This could backfire .. badly. As a Chinese you will get some extra attention , esp. at this time , as an alien under false identity in a sensitive border area ... arrested , to start with if it comes out. Kicked out of the country with ugly remarks in the passport ,I would expect. Legal process in between that .. probably not pleasant.

Why just Ladakh, try the verdant areas away from the border. Go to Roop Kund for example, Manimahesh. Senior people to advice.

True you wont require permits at places like Har Ki Dhun, Roop Kund, if I am not mistaken even VyasKund --- there are a host of places you can trek without any special permits
