Need help in itinerary planning

Hi Folks

I need help in planing my itinerary for my trip in August 2012.
We are 4 friends wanting to ride on our BIKES across Leh-Ladhak.
This would be the first time any of us is getting to this region, we are in no hurry and want to cruise. We have around 20 days to make a round trip from Delhi to Delhi

I have referred this website and tried putting up my itinerary, but am too amateur at it. Your suggestions will be greatly helpful to us

The following is the vague plan I set up, with a 100 flaws may be :P

Day 1
Leave from Belgaum to Delhi

Day 3
Reach Delhi [ Nizamuddin ]
Ride from Delhi to Amritsar
Stay over night at Amritsar

Day 4
Visit Golden Temple and Wagah Border
Stay over night at Amritsar

Day 5
Ride from Amritsar to Jammu
Local Sight seeing [ No idea what's around the town, any suggestions please ? ]
Stay over night at Jammu

Day 6
Ride from Jammu to Patnitop
Paragliding at Patnitop
Overnight stay at Patnitop

Day 7
Ride from Patnitop to Srinagar
Visit Dal Lake
Over night stay at Srinagar

Day 8
Ride from Srinagar to Kargil
Spend some time at Sonmarg
Reach Kargil
Over night stay at Kargil

Day 9
Ride from Kargil to Lamayuru
Over night stay at Lamayuru

Day 10
Ride from Lamayuru to Leh
Get Permits and Rest the entire day
Over night stay at Leh

Day 11
Leh – Khardung La – Diskit – Hundar
Over night stay at Hundar

Day 12
Hundar / Diskit – Sumur – Panamik – Sumur – Khardung La – Leh
Over night stay at Leh

Day 13
Leh – Hemis Monastery – Pangong Tso Lake
Over night stay at Pangong Tso

Day 14
Pangong Tso Lake – Thicksey Monastery – Shey Palace – Leh
Over night Stay at Leh

Day 15 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 16 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 17 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 18 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 19 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 20 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 21 I need suggestions for this part of the trip
Day 22 I need suggestions for this part of the trip

Day 23 Reach Delhi
Day 24
Day 25 Reach back to Belgaum


I have no clue whether the above timings ( considering we are riding on bikes and first time at such altitudes ) makes sense or not. And may be since we have ample amount of time left around, may be there would be more places of interest

Please suggest me on the above plan.

Please consider You might not get time for paragliding, if you reach late.

Spend how much time in Sonmarg and what do you have in mind? You sure need to plan to zozilla as early as possible so you have daylight in case something goes wrong like a flat tyre or a motorcycle failure

Why? You can reach leh the same day - You can keep this as a buffer day instead of a night halt day.

You would be too tired and would be too late for the palace and moastery

You have 8 days free BUT you have not considered 3 days to reach back to delhi so effectively it leaves you with around 5 days in hand.

You could spend some time in Srinagar as you going all the way from Belgaum.
You could spend a little time in nubra and go to turtuk
You also need a day in leh just to take some time off from all the riding.
And you need to keep some time as buffer days.
