Need Advice Regarding Flight out of Leh to Delhi

Can someone please advice us regarding airline regulations of flight out of Leh to Delhi.
I read from the airline rule that NO HAND BAGGAGE is allowed to be carried into the plane flying out of Leh airport. IS this true. Then what about photographic equipments like camera and lenses? IS there an exception? Obviously, checking in our camera and lenses may resulting in loss or damaged. We had booked with Deccan Air in June from Leh to Delhi.
Would appreciate advice if this is true and what is the alternative?
Thank you
Paul

Thanks
There isnt any Air Deccan office here in Singapore. Tried calling in India, but no response. So had to write to them, but no reply as yet
Just posting that to see if anyone had flown in any of the airlines and faced the same restrictions.

There are strict security precautions in force at all 3 airports in Jammu and Kashmir.
No cabin baggage is allowed.
Hand bags, such as a ladies purse is allowed.
Electronic equipment - cameras, laptop computers are allowed.
All baggage has to be physically identified by the passenger before it is loaded on to the aircraft.

Hello

I flew this stretch several times last year with Jet Airways and Air Deccan. Methods were different when it came to the size of the allowed handluggage each time... Sometimes they permitted a lady's purse, sometimes not... what was never allowed was bigger stuff like rucksack, trolley etc. So be prepared that you are not allowed to bring any bag bigger than a small purse into the aircraft. Hope this helps.

Greetings Shiva

Thanks Shiva. One of the purpose of visiting this beautiful place is of course photography. And in that, normally it would means camera and lens which are carried in camera bag. That is probably the only thing that needs to be carried into the plane as it would be damaged or lost if checked in as a baggage. Obviously rucksack has to be checked in.
That is our main concern. I wonder if this is also ban from carrying in as a hand lugguage?

I just answered this before... cameras and notebook computers are allowed to be carried on the plane. Need not worry about this.

would a bag holding only both camera body/lens and notebook be fine? i assume that's fine (in addition to the items, a bag to hold them) unless someone told me otherwise.
