My Ladakh itinerary and a few questions

This will be my 2nd trip to Ladakh and below is the itinerary that I have prepared.

29th July - Start from Mumbai
30th July - Reach Delhi in the morning.
Take the evening 630 bus to Manali
31st July - Reach Manali - stay overnight
1st August - Leave for Leh (either bus or private cab)Halt
somewhere
2nd August - Reach Leh
3rd August - Reserve day
4th August - Leave for Pangong - Stay overnight
5th August - Back to Leh
6th August - Start for TsoMoriri - Tso Kar - Manali
7th August -
8th August - Reach Manali - Stay overnight
9th August - Leave for Delhi
10th August- Reach Delhi. Take late afternoon train to Mumbai

1. Is this doable ? Can it be improved in any way ?
2. I believe HPTDC buses (Delhi-Manali)have to be reserved in advance - saw this on their website. Are there other buses leaving from Delhi for Manali for which prior reservations are not needed ?
3. How much does a private 4 seater cost from Manali to Leh.
Are shared taxis available ?
4. Do I need to make reservations in advance for the Malai Leh route if I take a bus ? Do all of them break the journey at Keylong ?
5. Can I look for accommodation after reaching Manali/Leh?
6. Should I prebook a package for Pangnong/Tso Moriri ?
7. What are the accommodation options at Pangong and Tso Moriri ?
8. Can the Leh-TsoMoriri-Tso Kar - Manali be done in 3 days comfortably ?

* doable - yes. but you are missing out on all the lovely gompas and Leh.
I'd add at least 2 more days and visit a few Gompas.
* there is an online website for the buses - http://hp.gov.in/hptdc/Availability.aspx
i'd book in advance since you have limited number of days - even 1 day delay can mess up your plans.
these are really nice buses - i'd go with the govt run buses than the private ones - I have used both and there is a night and
day difference.
* shared cabs are available - you'll have to talk to one of the local travel agents once u get to manali.
safe travels,
madhu

My wife and me are a bit putoff by the Delhi Manali 15 hour bus journey. So we have decided to directly fly into Leh like I did back in 2008. Well this calls for altitude sickness problems
but we have kept 3 reserve days in Leh before starting with the trip anywhere.

Ideally it would have been better to fly out of Leh but the air fare is more than double for the return journey.

So below is the revised itinerary

29th July - Start from Mumbai
30th July - Reach Delhi in the morning. Stay overnight in Delhi.
31st July - Catch early morning flight to Leh
1st August - Rest Day
2nd August - Rest Day
3rd August - Leave for Pangong - Stay overnight
4th August - Back to Leh after watching the sunrise. Should be
back by 2pm considering the 6 hr drive.
5th August - Start for TsoMoriri - Tso Kar - Manali
6th August -
7th August - Reach Manali - Stay overnight
8th August - Rest Day / Explore Manali
9th August - Leave for Delhi
10th August- Reach Delhi. Take late afternoon train to Mumbai

Is this pace good for the trip ? Can anyone suggest if I need to make bookings in advance or are 3 days in Leh good enough to make the arrangements ?

You may want to consider flying into Srinagar on 30th, sleep overnight there (~2000 meters), then taking a two day journey to Leh. It's considered better for acclimatization than directly flying in (as you'd spend time in Kargil overnight which is 3350 m and final is Leh at ~3500 meters. Check new_traveller, CaptainBruce and Vistet's posts.

Rest is good.

This looks much better now - you have a few days at the start which you folks can use for local visits (shey, thiksey, hemis etc ...) if you guys are not hit by AMS.
Have a safe trip.
Cheers,

Why do you want to spend so much of your holidays sitting in vehicles on windy bad roads?
