i think its better you should have a perfect driver with you because at the hight of 18000ft anything can happend for your safety it will be better you run with driver and look forward for company wt you i have came back today from leh its such a nice place but dont drive alone.. if ant kind of help required can message me.

Its advisable not to do marsimik la in a 4 wheeler unless
1) you are a very experienced driver with experience in driving in harsh mountainous terrain. 2) Wont mind screwing up your vehicle ( read scratches , dents and underbelly damage including oil tank rupture ) 3) If your vehicle is not 4 wheel drive. all this presuming that the Border police lets you pass in the first place, they usually allow bikes but 4 wheelers are a different thing. My personal advise even though it might sound like a challenge dont try it unless you fulfill the above criteria ; do an honest self evaluation do you really want to do it ? people who know what marsimik la is wont care whether you drove your scorpio up there or not and people who care wont know where marsimik la is in the first place I am not discouraging you just asking to evaluate everything in the right perspective and not take any steps out of excitement Coming to your query 1) Healthwise you can experience breathlessness / headache /dizziness all signs of mountain sickness. 2) The terrain is very slussy kind of terrain with a sharp uphill climb from what I have heard - with a good chance that your vehicle can get stuck - getting the vehicle out of even a minor stuckup physically getting out of the vehicle can take tremendous physical toll on your health if your are not properly adjusted to the altitude and climate of Ladhak. 3) There is a good posibility of your scorpio breaking down - remember vehicle needs to be pushed up and there would be less oxygen for the fuel combustion. 4) usually only army vehicles take that route not because they want to but because they have to All the best if you still plan to do it - just be careful and ensure you have experienced people with you.

Ps: if its challenge you are looking for - then crossing passes like Taglang La la , Chanag la , Keylong side of Rothang pass would be a challenge in itself
