Manali to leh on 21 or 22 May

Hey,

I just have few queries & want to know the answers.

--> I want to know if the road from Manali to Leh will open by then ???

--> How much will it take for 7 pple If we hire a taxi from Manali & that to one way. i.e. only till Leh & a day or 2 for sight seeing in Leh.

--> Is it safe taking a taxi ??

--> And on the way which will a better place for a night halt....& also which places to visit in LEH if we are staying there for 2 days..

Plese help as i need to plan the trip as soon as possible.

As Per the News Pouring in the Highway is most likely to open by then, Keep a track of the news regarding the Opending of a Highway. Follow the Link enclosed

Last year the Going Rate of Taxi from Manli to Leh was around 10000/-.(Dropping Only). Taxi;s Mostly Used are TATA Sumo (so 7 People wont be a issue. for the Local Sightseeing you would have to Hire a Cab from Leh Taxi Union. outise taxis are not aloowed to ply.

Yeah its absolutely Safe

W-> And on the way which will a better place for a night halt....& also which places to visit in LEH if we are staying there for 2 days..
While going to Leh i think `Kyelong is very good Option, & on the Way Back from Leh if you are coming on a cab then they Start from leh around 2:00 am in thge night & reach Manali by Late evening (but mind it its ademanding 17-19 hours Drive)

First of all 2 days can never be enough for Ladakh, but i think u can check out the Gompas arounf Leh (Thiskey, Shey, Hemis,Leh Palace, shanti Stupa) or Make a half day trip to Khardungla & back

I got a small doubt regarding the Taxi..

--> How many days will it take to reach LEH & will there be any night halt.
--> how much will it cost for the night halt.

--> wat will be the fare in the leh for sight seeing......

--> so how many days would be good to chk out all the places in LEH.........& also give me the name of the places which is a must see.

The first vehicles have already crossed the Rothang , and BRO say it will be officially open within a couple of days.

Make your first nightfall in Keylong , or Jispa.

Hiya...

The Rohtang Pass has been open for light vehicles for the last week now... The day a woman delivered her baby right on top of the blessed pass...!

Hey i want to know good hotels in Manali for about 1000Rs. a day.
Plz if possible can any 1 give the present rates,

Hey i want to know the present taxi rates from Manali to LEH.

& also the present taxi stand rates in LEH.

Plz if possible try to help.

Hi Vistet: When do you think Mahali-Leh is will be fully cleared for tourist travel?? Last year this day they were almost ready to open and indeed opened on 15th May for tourists?? Seems like getting delayed a bit this year????

Hi Vistet: When do you think Mahali-Leh will be fully cleared for tourist travel?? Last year this day they were almost ready to open and indeed opened on 15th May for tourists?? Seems like getting delayed a bit this year????

I think your guess is as good as mine. I got a message from Leh yesterday , talking about about people coming in from Srinagar, but not Manali, so it would seem that it´s not just a question of official vs. unofficial.

Another guess from my side is that the BRO is still red faced after the one day only opening of the Srinagar-Leh road , and will put the bar higher this time.

Well , not at this date officially
: official opening requires the okay for buses from the BRO, and that hasn´t happened yet.Light vehicles , i.e. taxi jeeps etc. should have been running well over a week now - but apparently not beyond Keylong.

("Awesome " - what do you mean : all our roads look like that ??
