Welcome Everyone,
Does anybody know antything about weather and Manali-Leh road's recent situation? My friends have started their 2-days trip from Manali to Leh abut... 2 weeks ago!And since then I had no information from them. Is there any internt caffee in Leh or by the way from Manali.
If so, maybe I will be able to provide you some new information about Ladakh because I'm, going there at the begining of August.
Greetings!

Hi,

Hi,
if your friends left two weeks they should probably be in leh by now .. if they have not decided to stay in Keylong for long and discover around .. Or probably they have landed in Leh and gone to Zanskar or Nubra ... Leh has internet and Manali has internet ... Internet is not available along the way except at Keylong and that depends whether the line gets connected or not ... Manali Leh Highway is closed for two days now because of Landslides ... so it is going to Open by 19th now ... Happy travels

Cheers,
Dhananjay

Hi guys,
Me and my friends would be visiting Leh around August 15.Our actual plan is to visit Manali first and then to Leh via road.I have a few queries.

Is it an appropriate season for visiting these places??
Would we be gifted with trekking on those snow clapped mountains???
How long will it take for sightseeing in Manali and Leh??

As we have planned for only 5 days (from Delhi->Manali->Leh->Delhi), we don't have much time, so which place is worth spending more time, Manali or Leh. Or is it the Manali- Leh road which would be more exciting.

And FreeBirD, I saw ur yahoo photos and geocities link, they r really great.U have been there last june or july. There seems to be snow everywhere in Leh. will there be similar conditions in August.

Internet is available in Ladakh, but it's a bloody fortune for Indian standards.... I guess it all depends on how big of a friend he/she . Don't mean it in a bad way... read on. Internet in Leh is extremely expensive... last summer they where charging something like 120 IRS, which is a bloody fortunre in India. Therefore, I just sent one email while I was there (over 3 weeks). It was sent to my mom, who worries to much about me. Others had to wait i'm afraid. So if you're friend is on a tight budget odds are she/he is ok, but unwilling to spend a fortune to contact you. Don't feel offended by that please... it's just that the mind works differently while you're on the road. Those 120 IRS becomes a big chunk of the daily budget for meals for example.

my dear friend..5 days are too less for the entire journey.ijust came back from leh on 13 july. you need a min of 1 day in manali for a snap shot visit to manali and then manali leh journey is of 2 days with night halt at sarchu. so your three days are gone. and leh itself requires a min of 5 days. leh local sightseeing requires 2 days. then 2 days for tso moriri lake, one day for alchi-likir-rizong, 2 days for nubra valley, one day for pangong lake. now you can see how can you manage in just 5 days ,manali and leh both...abt choosing between manali and leh ,ihave posted pictures of both manali and leh at this link

for manali check album landscapes
for ladakh
check album ladakh & ladakh landscapes

i guess you should be able to make up your mind
cheers
