Manali - Leh by road

Hi,

I am planning to go to Leh via Manali by road in mid September 2009. Can anyone please tell me about the weather conditions there at at this time of the year. I've heard that the roads are all washed out ! Please help !

Also, please tell me about the cost of hiring a taxi from Manali.

Actually, I am not very sure of the destination i want to visit in mid September. It can be in Uttarakhand too ! Can anyone please suggest some secluded place in higher reaches of Himalayas like Kedarnath (char dham) !

Most probably the road to Leh from Manali would be open during Mid September. The cost for Manali - Leh would be around Rs. 10000/- which depends upon the days you want to do the journey in i.e. 2 or 3 days.

hi iam going to leh on 6th sep09 by road with s.u.v. if your dates are flexible you can join us we are gong for 12 days trip .. weather is good this time and roads are also open.. so if you can come with us can mail me at vikramkyy@yahoo.com or call me at 09758231045..

Thanks Ronak..I suppose 10000 is the one way cost..! We are 2 people so I think total cost may come out to be somewhere near 15000 for the entire trip. Also I want to cover Manali - Leh in 2 days. Can you please suggest where to halt. I think most people stay at Sarchu..
