Pangong So Lake is a day trip. If you leave in the morning by 6am you can expect to reach Pangong lake by 12-1pm. After about 1-2 hours the same time back. En-route you will stop either while going on on your return at Changla Pass for say 15odd min.

Nubra i suggest you make it atleast a 2 day 1 night trip. Start by 9 from Leh and you can cover Panamik and Sumur village and gompa and disket gompa and reach Disket village by 5pm. The next day by 8am leave for hunder and you can return back to leh by 2-3pm after stopping at kardungla for some time. There is a new guest-house at Disket called Saichen guesthouse, worth the stay out there. We paid 250 per night, its a new one so facilities are great. The caretakers/owners are nice to talk to and pretty informative. His name is Norway Chwopo.

Tso Moriri & Tso kar can be done in one day but very long suggest again 1 night trip atleast. Also if possible you can leave Leh for Tso kar & Tso Morriri and return back via more plains to Surchu and finally Manali instead of going back to Leh

All the above distances are one way, driving time depends on how you travel and how often you stop. Would recommend at least 2 days trip for each of the them.

Thanks for the lovely info.
I was supposed to leave for Tso Moriri today but couldn't due to slight AMS. I'm planning to visit Tso Moriri tomorrow in one day. I'll leave at 5am from Karu. How much time you think it'll take me to reach the lake, how much time can I spend there and then how much time to get back? I'll be going the Chumathang route.

Pangang Tso and Nubra Valley is going to be 2 day trip each. Pangang Tso is 8th & 9th June. Nubra Valley is 10th & 11th June.

Also, through fauji contact, I've been invited to visit the Siachen Base Camp. You think its worth it? Where is it and what's the altitude there?

Thanks

If you have any altitude symptoms (in fact even without ) you´ll profit from working in Nubra before the Tso´s : more time around three thousand for basic acclimatization , and the Khardung La visit as a final jolt to the system.

Well you lucky to visit the Saichen base, i was so looking forward to visiting it but was told its not easy to get into the base. The base can be visited when you go to Nubra. from Sumur some 30min you will reach Panamik where you will find hot water springs. After Panamik you can go further till a point only. The army check post does not let you go further. I was told Saichen was some 40odd Km from Panamik. Well if you can visit the base i am sure its worth the time and effort.

Distances from Leh

Leh to Nubra (Hunder) aproxi dist is 130 km, up to khardungla it takes more than 2 hrs which is 45 km from leh. Penamic in Nubra is 160 km from leh, which last place in nubra.
Pangong Lake is 150 km from leh but again Changla Pass is there on the way which is at 18000 ft ht. u can stay in Tangse which is 120 km from Leh and u will find sm guest houses there. Go for bargaining n will get it in half of the rate they ask. probable in 300 to 400 per room.
Tsomorari is 220 km from leh , its is aslo hv passes on the way and road is also not good.

I believe Tangtse is around 4000 ,definitely lower than Pangong , which makes it the logical choice in this situation.

Hi Sam_Thind,
All roads are open. I went to Tso Moriri on 6th, Pangong Tso on 7th and now I've come to Nubra Valley on 8th. The road 10 kms or so before and 10 kms or so after Khardung La is a bit rough, but people were going on bikes so it is motorable.
Cheers

I'm planning to visit Pangong Lake next month. Thanks all of you for a lot of info . Anyway, are there any guesthouses in Pangong Lake? Where can I stay if I want to stay a night there as I think Tangse is a little bit away from the lake? However, I don't know whether the lake is nice in early morning if I want to take photos, it not, maybe I change to come back to Leh.

The important point here is that Tangtse is about 500 meters lower than Pangong Tso : going one thousand meters higher in sleeping elevation can mean anything between discomfort and danger. Read the safe ascent guide lines, treat them with the same respect as diving tables.

Visiting the lake is not a problem, sleeping there without a acclimatization stop is.
