can anyone please tell me the options to get to padum from leh?
- public transportation - does anyone know schedules of bus services? i understand they do one long day from kargil to padum? - private transportation - how much does a taxi/jeep cost? if it stops in rangdum overnight, what are accomodations/facilities available? thanks for your help. |

Go to Leh and enquire about the weekly bus services. Last year they left Leh on a Wednesday, but this may have changed. There is only one through-bus per week. It stops overnight in Kargill. I thought I would be able to arrive in Kargil any day and get an onwards bus to Padum - this was not the case.
I do not know about Jeeps, but no doubt there are some. Tim in Ireland

Last I heard jeeps charge 10k for Padum, better option would be to team up with a few other travelers who are going that way. Like Tim said there is a weekly bus service from leh, beside this there is little traffic going there.
