Leh to Delhi by BUS/JEEP Hello, I am headed to Leh on 3rd July and will be heading back on the 7th, back to Mumbai. I am looking to take the Leh-Keylong-Manali-Delhi bus/jeep route back to Delhi and then fly back to Mumbai. Q> Where can I get info. for making the bus/jeep and lodging reservations for my Leh to Delhi trip? I am looking for info on rates and schedules. From the blogs I read, it seems, I will have to stay overnight in Keylong and Manali. Q> Is the Leh-Keylong-Manali-Delhi a safe route? Q> Would you recommend a bus or a jeep? I am going to do this trip all by myself and as this is the first time I am headed north of Delhi, I need advise from the veterans who've been there done that! Thanks!

Hi, I will be in Leh from the 3rd to the 7th and I intend to leave Leh on the 7th for Keylong by bus/jeep, whichever is more advisable. Any comments?

Hiya... The road between Manali & Leh is as safe as safe can be... Safer than travelling by Mumbai locals for sure...! While in Leh, check out with the travel agents (every second shop is a travel agent in season time) about available jeep-sharing options... There are posters plastered all over the walls of Leh asking for jeep partners - people looking out for sharing jeeps... If you want to really, really rough it out, there is a jeep which leaves Leh at 2.00 a.m. and reaches Manali at 10.00 p.m. the same day... Yes, its back breaking but if you get an extra day, it might surely be worth the effort...! Do check out Post Nos. 1 & 8 on Page 1 of the following thread : Ladakh in 5 Days...???!!! (Or 6 or 7 or 10 or 15...!!!) Am sure it will help you in your plans...! Cheers...!

Hi Solo Trekker, wow, that was a very helpful report! I plan to stay o/n at Keylong and at Manali, so I have time to enjoy the journey! So, would you recommend the Jeep over the HPTC run Buses? Thanks!

| 1) Bus will not take more than 2 days with a night halt at Pang/Sarchu or Jipsa/darchu 2) Jeep is better if you want to have a little more relaxed drive and photography option ( limited depending upon with whom you are sharing the jeep) 3) Bus charge might be around Rs 600 and the Jeep Share might be around Rs 1200 again depending on the seat preference ( check before hand which vehicle it is and how many people they are going to stuff in) Q> Where can I get info. for making the bus/jeep and lodging reservations for my Leh to Delhi trip? I am looking for info on rates and schedules. From the blogs I read, it seems, I will have to stay overnight in Keylong and Manali. Leh Town as Solo Trekker said - for Taxi ask the agents but better ask directly at the taxi stand - for stay you dont need any reservations - you will get it where the bus or the jeep stops Just remember that even a jeep will finish the run in 2 days if you plan to stay in Keylong you need to get off and make alternative arrangements once there. Q> Is the Leh-Keylong-Manali-Delhi a safe route? Yes..unless you dont take panga with the locals over speeding Q> Would you recommend a bus or a jeep? Depends on your choice Good Luck!
