leh-lahaul-sach

hey . what do you think id most adventurous/difficult drive-

--manali-leh
--shimla-spiti-lahaul-zanskar
--manali-tandi-udaipur-killar-sach pass-chamba
--ANY OTHER ....

how much minimum time that one should keep for each of these .
driving daily 10 hrs (8 am-6 pm)-with stopping for lunch n taking photo.want to see only the natural beauty , not interested in monuments or else

what are the places on the way we can make night stay in some kind of accomodation (with family).

what places en route we should get our 4x4suv tank full/keep some extra petrol

is ILP required for any those en route parts to a delhite-indian citizethere is confusion regarding this -FOR INDIANS ??

I think Udaypur-Killar-Sach pass-Chamba will be the toughest. You will get places to stay (basic accomodation, nothing luxury) at Udaypur and Killar, and Obviously at Chamba.

As has been mentioned you can stay at Udaypur or Kilar. Or a bit off-route at Keylang if you like.

Between Manali and Chamba there is only one pump at Tandi Bridge, 110 km from Manali.

No ILP required anywhere.

1,.how much time will be required to do delhi-rohtang-keylong-tandi-udaipur-killar-sach-chamba-back to delhi

2.how shoul i plan day wise-accomodation wise,

3. what routes from chamba to delhi
(i don want trekking, just scenic beauty, long drive)
i drives 10 hours /day including stoppage for photography, tea-lunch etc

4. what period of year will be best

this route is less discussed so not found much information to finalize

1. No idea. Take it easy though, if you want to enjoy the drive. Gulaba-Rohtang-Tandi will be slow going as the road is bad in many places (not to mention the traffic jams for Rohtang) - 20-25 kmph. Tandi to Udaypur will be better, but not faster than 25-30 kmph. Udaypur-Kilar-Sach pass is kachcha. Have you read Indiantrekker's blog? Useful info there.

2. I wud take 2 days to get to Manali, you might do it in one day. After leaving Manali, next night in Sisu or Keylang, next night in Kilar, next night Chamba - unless you spend more time.

3. You cud come via Khajjiar and Dalhousie to Pathankot, or via Nurpur to Pathankot. Haven't been to Chamba yet, but I think both routes will be scenic.

4. July to September.

Hi,

Had done Sach Pass ( couldnt go any further - leave issues ). A friend of mine had done it the other way around ( from Manali to Chamba).

Images are there on my photo galleries.
Basic take is that route from Keylong side is much much tougher... in terms of inclements and road conditions.

Best time to visit it would be Sept / October - as you would find snow and secondly due to fall season, the colours that you would find in the hills are amazing

Hope that helps...

Yes, congrats, Yogesh.

Do let us know
1) how easy/difficult it is for 4-wheelers
2) availability of public transport.
