Leh - June 5th - 17th - seeking travel partners + advice

Hi all

i'll be leaving for leh on june 5th from delhi via manali (probably single or at best 2 ppl; will be great if there are others who are travelling could join)

need few tips

1. plan to do manali-leh stretch with 1 stop at keylong. will this be sufficient for acclimatization (read few articles abt AMS par thoda confuse ho gaya hoon will be great agar koyi es bare me thoda prakash dal sakta ho to aur uske precaution pe: want to be safe than sorry on this ) i plan to take share taxi from manali to keylong and from keylong to leh (cant afford to hire 1 myself) are there other options i shuld also look at

aur bhi agar koi advise dena theek samje to most welcome ( i intend to stay 1 night in nubra valley and 1 at pangogn lake - any pointers what place best to stay in these places) i should have 6 for leh and around. aur kuch bhi mujhe include karna chaiye kya...

Depends, it varies from person to person. As far as Pangong Tso is concerned, Eco Huts are a good option.

There are two of us also planning to travel from Delhi on 5th. Our plan is to return to Delhi by around the 13th / 14th. In case your group has not already grown in size, we can see if we can work out something.

We are also going for the first time and in general are not in great enough shape to do anything too extreme.

that wud be great.... my group can only shrink, no chance of it growing (from 2 to 1)

We're 2 ppl from Mumbai. Our group neither shrinks nor stretch. Can we both join ya'll.., Then we can hire a taxi for our own as the cost per person will reduce....,

u have some work there or going only to do enjoy your self. i want to tell u something we are 8 members team also going to leh on 6th june if u want to join us then welcome..we are going to second time first time we were back from keylong due to some problem that time date was 3rd june08 and now 6th june09.

Hi our trip to Ladakh this June 2009 has been finalised and looks like this:

13th June Flight from Bangalore to Delhi, stay overnight.

14th June Take Shatabdi from Delhi at 7:30 am and reach Chandigarh by 11 am. Hire a minibus to reach Manali and stay overnight at Manali.

15th June Depart early morning by road from Manali, through Rothang pass, enter Lahaul valley en route Chandra River, reach Baralachala pass and continue to Keylong and stay overnight.

16th June Drive up through Sarchu to Gata Loops and across the Moore Plains of the Changtang Plateau. Then cross Taglangla. By late evening / night, reach Leh and stay in a hotel.

17th June Acclimatize during day and visit Shanti Stupa and Sankar Gompa by evening.

18th June Leave for Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monastries. After late lunch at midpoint Karu, head towards Pangong Tso via Durbuk, Tanksey & Lukung. Stay overight at Tso Pangong.

19th June Head back to Leh. Overnight at Leh.

20th June Visit Khardung-la pass and be back to Leh by sundown. (A decision to stay overnight at Nubra Valley is pending, which will help us utilise June 23rd).

21st June Drive through Spituk, Gurdwara Shri Patthar Sahib, Magnetic Hill and Confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers to Lamayuru. Overnight at Alchi.

22nd June Head back to Leh. Overnight at Leh.

23rd June Relaxation at Leh.

24th June Take early morning flight from Leh to Delhi. Fly back from Delhi to Bangalore.

This is a 12 days no-frills, backpacker's camping trip. Currently I have 7 confirmations and looking for another 3 more, preferably a couple and a single, to even out the cost.
