Leh During May End And Early June

Dear forum members,
i will be visiting LEH from 29th may to 2nd june this year.

i would like to have your opinion regarding the following points:
1. Weather during that period.
2. your experiences of Sindhu Darshan Festival last year.
3. Any budget hotel on the main Leh Market.
4. Is permit required for Pangong Lake visit.

1. i think the weather is okay in may/june. i've been to ladakh in july, which was quite hot.
2. i don't know this festival
3. i've stayed at tongson guesthouse which was quite good (http://wikimapia.org/1785137/tongson-guest-house)
4. permit is required for pangong tso. you pass 4 or 5 check points to pangong tso

because of time constraint i along with my wife and 8years old daughter are going via Air.
we will be there for 4 days from 29th may till 2nd june.
I think i belong to the minority group of leh travellers using air route to reach Leh.
Any ways we might catch you in leh.

if its your first visit
visit pangong and nubra for sure
pangong one day and nubra 2 days
but ist day should be local site seeing only as you are coming by air route

It will be bit chilly during morning /evening. warm during the day time.
2. your experiences of Sindhu Darshan Festival last year.
The Sindhu darshan started by BJP govt is done now on much lesser scale, but you will get to see some cultural dance/songs.

3. Any budget hotel on the main Leh Market.
I would suggest Hotel Tsokar. But Many choices will be available. You go to Leh check few hotels/rooms before settling for one. and you can also bargain as not many tourist will be there.

4. Is permit required for Pangong Lake visit.
yes.

30 May: day for Khardungla, magnetic hill, pathar saheeb and Indus-Zanskar river confluence.

31 may: day visit to Pangong.

1st June day at sindhu darsha, Stok museum, thiksey monastery.

Thanks Vishal.
I don't think we will be able to cover both nubra valley and The pangong lake.
So we will visit the lake this time and in our next trip we will be visiting the nubra valley.
And the next Trip will definitely be Leh via MaNALI IN 2011.
