I wrote this in this thread but though it is useful here too

I just came back from Leh yesterday and the situation out there is good for tourists. Due to cloudburst the locals were affected a lot however there are no problems for a tourist.

The hotels, resturants, markets, tour agencies are all running fine and the trek/tour to all major places like pangong, tsomoriri, nubra, marka, zanksar etc open since long. Also the roads from Manali and Srinagar are open and many private and public transport buses/zeeps etc are running. The alternate road from Manali to Leh is open so it would take a longer to reach Leh.

Many thanks for posting this. I have often been wondering if it is good to recommend people to go or not. I knew the weather is alright and most roads (excelt Manali-Leh) are not open, but I was worried on the resource issues. A travel agent I know had told me to recommend people to come, but I wanted opinion from someone who is not in the travel industry. That sorts it out.

Thumbs up All is Well

Hi,

I have returned from Leh this week after a 9 day trip and everything is fine in Ladakh. The travel agencies and the cab drivers are ready to give upto 20% of discount, even the hotels and guest houses are available at a cheap rate. The Leh-Srinagar highway upto Nimo is in bad shape, apart from that everything else is quite ok. BSNL office has been shifted to a new location and rebuilding work is going on in the Leh bus stand (operational now). So please don't cancel your trip to Leh, the people of Leh badly need your help as the season is going to end soon for this year.

Thanks,
Tamagna

Yes, apart some expectable extra problems one may encounter, my planned trip to Ladakh gets evermore a social meaning. A small hand among many, I hope.
Looking forward to it.
Thanks to all for further info and updates.
Bye.
Bruno.
