http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...ond-hunder.jpg

But it was so beautiful so we kept riding
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...all-stream.jpg

Until we were shown the gun and told to turn back! Pakistan was barely 30kms away!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...s-in-nubra.jpg

A small bridge to nowhere in the middle of nowhere!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...to-nowhere.jpg

After 70+kms of riding, we came back to the place beyond which we weren't supposed to go!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a.../74-hunder.jpg

Then we headed back to the highest road in the world
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...hardung-la.jpg

And reached Leh soon
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...007/79-leh.jpg

Day 8 Leh - Chang La - Pangong Tso

The mighty Chang La welcomed us
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...1-chang-la.jpg

And en route to Pangong Tso, we discovered another lake
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...small-lake.jpg

And another one!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...angong-tso.jpg

Then we finally caught the first glimpse of Pangong Tso
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...angong-tso.jpg

And the sunset
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...angong-tso.jpg

Day 9: Pangong Tso

Next day we got a better view
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...angong-tso.jpg

And sat down to relax
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...pangong-ts.jpg

And even had a small race!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...-winner-is.jpg

Fished out DJ's bike
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...e-bike-out.jpg

Got mesmerized by the tranquility of Pangong Tso
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...98-pangong.jpg

But got trapped by Pagal Nallah
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...gal-nallah.jpg

Day 10: Pangong Tso - Tangste - Chang La - Leh

Army came to our rescue next day
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...gal-nallah.jpg

http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...ang-la-top.jpg

Day 11: Leh - Lamayuru - Kargil

Next day I alone, had a late start and bad weather, but there is always a silver lining to it
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...c-lighting.jpg

Took the road less used and came across the ruins of a village
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...-a-village.jpg

Then I was back on the normal route
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...te-fotu-la.jpg

Day 12: Kargil - Sankoo - Pakarachik - Rangdum (Suru Valley)

It was time to head to Suru Valley, I was back after a year.
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...lley-vista.jpg

Nothing much had changed, people were still collecting grass for winter
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...ting-grass.jpg

But this Stupa wasn't there last year!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...iant-stupa.jpg

But road was the same
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...to-rangdum.jpg

And so were the views at Rangdum
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...uru-valley.jpg

Day 13: Rangdum - Pakarachik - Sankoo - Kargil

As I headed back next day, I took the abandoned trails
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...lley-trail.jpg

They were a lot more fun then the boring tar roads!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...oad-riding.jpg

Then the adventure was over, as I bid Suru farewell again!
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...g-farewell.jpg

Day 14: Kargil - Drass - Zoji La - Srinagar

Next day I crossed over into Kashmir
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...94-kashmir.jpg

A dramatic change from what I was seeing for past few days
http://www.yogeshsarkar.com/photos/a...o-sonamarg.jpg

But it was now time to bid farewell to hills get back home!

Thanks Swapnil and sssall

ColdC we started from Delhi at around 3:30am and reached Manali at around 1am because the two guys I was riding with had flown into Delhi on the previous day and had spent the whole day preparing the bike etc. and were sleepy by the time we hit the highway. So we had to take frequent breaks for tea etc. of course rain and rain damage roads and the fact both of them riding in North India and hills for the first time, didn’t help much.

It normally takes me ~14hours to reach Manali from Delhi but that day it took us around 22hours. But both the guys were fantastic, they were up at 6am (we went to bed around 2:30-3am) and then rode till 5:30 in the evening.

great videos. you could have added a song in the background though. the "ride from khardungla" featuring bob seeger's against the wind was a lot livelier.

Yogesh, question about your route....

When heading to Mandi from Delhi and you reach Ambala, do you then take NH22 toward Pinjore and then NH21A through Nalgarth to NH21; or, are you going through Chandigarth and Rupnagar? Thanks!

Planning to add a song to the larger gata loop video that I have. Uploaded these for fun

I normally take Chandigarh - Ropar - Kiratpur route to Manali, since the Nalagarh one is not really in that good a condition.

Don’t worry too much about pagal nallah, unless it is overflowing on the road, it wouldn’t be too difficult to cross, even though the road leading up to the bridge over it is a little rough.

All the photographs were shot using my Kodak cx7430 4mp digital camera with 3x optical zoom.
