Ladakh Motorcycle Trip(Sep 2009)

Hi Friends ,

I am going for a Motorcycle Trip to Ladakh (my 5th trip) from 18th Sep '09 to 11th Oct '09 (24 Days). The same will be ex-Kolkata.

The Approximate Road Plan is: Kolkata - Delhi - Jammu - Srinagar - Sonamarg - Mulbek - Kargil - Leh - Sarchu - Manali - Chandigarh - Delhi - Kolkata.

Will also include, Khardungla Pass, Zanskar & Nubra Valley (Hunder) in the Trip.

The journey from Kolkata to Jammu (To) & Chandigarh to Kolkata (Fro) will be by train in the intrest of time.

I need help regarding exact destinations guide from Leh to all the major monasteries in Ladakh with direction & Ex-Leh distance.

Please note that all accomodation barring Leh/Manali will be in my Tent as this is an adventure ride.

your plan suits my interest as well, but as this is my first time to leh from simla, i'd like to know the details of the travel to make sure that we don't run into unforeseen problems!
I can join from simla as I'll be starting from chennai perhaps i'll go up to leh and visit places around leh and fly back to chennai from leh.
please let me know if my plan can be accommodated into yours.

i have also planned something similar to your plan. I will start from delhi on 18th sep. for chandigarh.
Delhi --> Chandigarh --> Manali --> Sarchu --> Leh --> Kardunla --> Ladakh --> Kargil --> Srinagar --> Jammu --> Delhi.

I suspect whether the manali- leh route will be closed on 11th oct or not. so check it in advance.

I will be with my 2-3 friends on bike. If possible, we can club it with you.

Hey Ben, I'd be a first timer to ladakh. I ll start from delhi on 30th august on bike.

I d like to ha an advice from u since u hav been there earlier. Its often raining in delhi/chandigarh in this season. Is there anything special to take care of while going to ladakh in this season?

If you' like to hook up with us, we are a party of two, contemplating riding from Delhi to Ladakh and back, maybe on an Enfield (one pillion rider). Given our limited time in India, we're thinking of maybe doing the entire return trip in 7 to 10 days, commencing around the 4th or 5th of September. I don't know if we are being too ambitious...

We've never been to India, but we're experienced backapckers in East-Asia and Indochina, veterans of several European motorbike tours, and have ridden through high altitudes (2200m) in the Alps, covered distances of 800km/day, etc.
