Hi kshastry

No need to worry about the partners for shared ride between leh-Srinagar as most of the cabs at taxi stand would take you on sharing basis. Only problem is that these cabbies would cross jozi la pass(which is really beautiful but bumpy stretch) in the dark i.e. around 2 am to 4 am. This is because the route opens at 2 am in the morning if you are travelling from leh-Srinagar. Although you can travel upto 8 am or something, most of these 'shared' cab guys would do it in the night.
however on srinagar-Leh route there is no such problem, you get to see the pass in day-light! and its quite a drive. Probably, Not as good as manali-leh but its still awesome. Specially the route between lamayuru gompa to leh

Well,can you please tell me, isn't there any way one can see the Zoli La pass in broad daylight if one is going there from Leh in a privatre vehicle?
Please confirm me as I am planning to do the trip at there,but I have no intention to travel in the dark.Is that really impossible or what?

you can cross during day, have always done that.

Can you tell me what would be the cost of such a shared ride per person? I am budgeting for the trip and any input will be very helpful.

Also, if enough passenger 'force' the cabbies to start during the day, won't they oblige? OR is it a necessity that they have to start in the dark?

Suj, i would be leaving on Sat 24th. Fly down to Srinagar and onwards to Leh via Road using Bus/Shared Jeep. and will return back via Manali. If you game let me know

Dear All,

Even I am Planning to for Ladakh & Zankar in Jay end. I wud be Starting from Chandiagrh on 22nf may Evening. Reaching Kargil hopefully the Following evening. Form there i am planning to Spend four-Five Days in Zanskar. Including Hikes to Zonghkul & Phukal Gompa;s then Plan to come back form leh & on the way back Visit tso-mori Lake. & end the trek in Manali by 31St or Ist June.

Plz Advise any Must do things along this route.
I am Taking my own jeep for this trip
