Abhay, I hear you. Even while I was posting, I was partly expecting such an answer - thanks for enlightening
![]() Similarly, bullets have about 3cm less ground clearance than pulsars/karizma, but they take offroading just as well. Your point is very valid. Speaking of which, could you please PM me your views on passenger cars (sub 5L segment) - given the kinda riding my friend does, he wants to buy a old mahindra jeep, and restore it, it for offroading - but given practicality/office use considerations, what would be a good car that is decent fun for cities, good AC, and has impeccable offroad ability? The kinda car that takes oodles of thrashing ![]() Mucho thanks in advance. |

I would strongly suggest that please consider Srinagar in your schedule, more so if you have never done before, and I bet you would not regret. On the Leh-Srinagar drive you can see : Lamayuru, beautiful Ladakh Range of kind unseen on Manali-Leh route, Magnetic Hill, Sonmerg and Baltal (just next to amazing Amarnath Caves which I did in absolutely unplanned manner on chopper on the way to Srinagar in August 2005), Soothing Dal lake (my all time favourite with romantic songs on a Shikara ride), beautiful Gulmarg in the Valley... so many things while you return from Srinagar. So instead of returning from Leh... why not consider Srinagar. Srinagar, separately, any other time is going to take a hell lot of time and money for anyone. Yesssss.... Manali-Leh-Ladakh is great and absolutely amazing... but why not end it with Srinagar which is such a HUGE contrast and beautiful-par-imagination on that???? Get out of that all time discussions on AMS and Altitude and macho talk and see what is just round the corner... right there on the west of Leh??? I can tell you from my all 3 driving experiences last 3 years that Jozilla Pass (Leh-Srinagar road) is far more crazy, lovely and enchanting than usually talked about Manali-Leh road. Imagine driving all the way in cold desert of Ladakh... and now you cross the Jozilla and you are in an amazingly greeen, romantic and soothing world of Srinagar. You just cann't have a bigger contrast, I think so. Yes constraints of time and everything... but wanna make the whole trip wholesome. Try it. For me... Ladakh must end with Srinagar. Regards Abhay |
