Ladakh Harvest Festival Mid July?

Hi
I'm travelling to Leh with a bunch of friends from 10-16 July. I think our bookings are at the Omasila hotel. Need a few tips from those in the know

1. I've heard that there is a 'harvest festival' in Ladakh somewhere around 12-13 July. Any details on exact dates and location? Also, is it worth going?

2. Can one really leave for Nubra / Tso-moriri from Leh in the morning and return by nightfall? Will I really be able to spend some time there?

3. Rafting in the Indus - How easy or difficult are the rapids near Leh? For one who's done the Rishikesh thing many a time, will this hold any charm?

4. Apart from Nubra / Tsomoriri & the monasteries, what else is worth checking out during this time of the year?

Nubra / Tso Moriri - in one day not possible / not advisable.

I am also looking out for answer to your rafting question. The route will def. be more scenic than Rishikesh.

Ronak.

if u hv done rafting in rishikesh (kaudiyala) then u can give it a miss coz thr are many other places tht are more worhty of spending time.....the water here is shallow unliike rishikesh...so i think it will be less thrilling....but yes it wud surely be more scenic...but when u rafting its not the scenary u are more bothered bout....so u decide and lemme know wht u decided
