Is it Possible to rent a bike in Manali for a Leh trip

My bad: Inadvertently Posted this in the J/K forum earlier

I and a couple of friends are planning to do a Chennai-Delhi-Manali-Leh trip this June.
The idea is to take a Friday evening flight to Delhi, overnight bus to Manali to be in Manali by Saturday Afternoon, hang around there for a day and then head on towards Leh

Now since it isn't possible for us to Ferry our Bikes all the way from Chennai to Manali :P, we are planning to rent out 2 bikes in Manali for a week.

a) Is it possible?
b) ANy pointers on the costs incurred would be welcome

If the above isn't possible, we would opt for a rented Taxi- Qualis/Sumo, but we feel that won't be half as fun.....

Any info/help appreciated

boss,

you do get bikes on rent, but its tough for indians - they prefer foreigners from wht i've heard. You can check LP and ask around at the local bull mechanic - they'd know. Just spend a day getting to know if the bike has any issues!

My ans from your previous topic

abhi182 you can certainly get motorcycles for rent in manali, mainly Enfields and rx100’s. However it would be better to get them from Delhi, this way you will get accustomed to the motorcycles before any serious hill riding starts. Also in Delhi you would have more choices. Renting from Delhi also gives you the freedom to come back via Srinagar, rather then sticking to the Manali – Leh route for the return journey as well.
Not sure about the cost, but the last I heard security would be around 20-25k and renting an Enfield would come out to be 300-450bucks a day for ladakh.

Hmm, Funny...
Rented out bikes a bunch of times in Pondicherry, Goa and Munnar without any hassles....

Anyway , just want to be sure so that we don't run int a situtaion where we book our leaves, travel 2000 kms to Manali to realize in the end that we cannot get hold of bikes

BTW would really appreciate if someone could pass the contact details for any bike rental agence in Manali

the rent seems fine, the security bit seems steep though...
Thanks for pointing this out though, at least we'll ensure that we have ready access to cash when we reach there

Ask for Anu bike guy. He has a super Enfield service station on the way when you go from Manali, mall road to Vashishth, its on the right hand side, you can't miss it.
Its upto him to rent to you or not, he is a good face reader

Sony has split and he has a bad reputation most of his bikes are old, yet he is doing a good business due to rise in demand. in this league there are many around the mall and near hiddamba temple and beyond on this road all the way to Old Manali.
it seems like everyone with a space is renting out bikes.
okay if not this you can try this www.bulletwallas.com
