Im planning to travel to Leh in August (from 22nd to 29th)
Need inputs on the following

1) Hotel recommendaton (about 3K per day is acceptable for two adults)
2) Itinerary , considering i cant really extend my stay id like to make the most of my time here
3)local transportation considerations (i dont drive)

Thanks in advance

go throuh the other threads about ladakh travel planning and you will get a good idea about itiniery etc.

1. hotel recommendation - we stayed in Cho palace last year. we liked it a lot and would definitely recommend. rates were 1200 for double room after about 30% discount. there are several other good hotels at this price range. search in the site reachladakh.com

2. itiniery depends on what your interests are etc.... i assume you are flying into leh. below was our itiniery last year.

day 1. reach leh. rest all day. apply through hotel for inner line permit.

day 2 . rest 1st half. 2nd half visit places within leh town(leh palace-shanti stupa-sankar gompha)

day 3 rafting from phey to nimo

day 4 leh - pangong tso - leh

day 5 leh khardungla - leh

day 6 leh -lamayuru-alchi-likir-leh

day 7 visit hemis-thiksey shey monastries.

day 8 fly back to delhi in the morning

3. local transportation is provided by the local taxi union. the rates are more or less fixed. there are numerous travel agents in the leh market. you can book the day trips through them once you reach leh. there are bulletin boards outside the agents offices with messages from other tourists who want to share day trips. thats a good way of saving money rather than booking a whole SUV for yourself.
