Re Nubra : Khardung La is a military post with some repair facilities , the way I remember it there is no village or habitation between Leh and Khalsar , which is where the road forks : Panamik N, Hunder & Diskit W.
Manali : the Tibetan temple had a lovely surrounding garden , but last time around it had been all but swallowed by the construction of a dharamshala. Acclimatisation issues : Sarchu will always be the great problem here , way outside safe ascent guide lines. Hopefully your driver is based in Manali and so less affected.I see you´ve put in some serious thought on acclimatization , I´ve summed up a few more pointers here

Hiya...
Just a couple of points I need to add... The trip from Manali to Leh can happily and conveniently be done in two days... Do you really want to stop over at Keylong as well as Sarchu...? (Some taxi operators actually do the trip in a single day - leave Leh at 2.00 a.m. and reach Manali at 10.00 p.m.)... No, I'm definitely not suggesting such a crazy thing; but I would still suggest doing it in two days, and not three...! About Nubra - The Nubra valley is shaped like a fork, a vee - Hunder and Deskit on the Western side and Panamik and Sumur on the Northern side... It is best to spend one night on each side... Hunder has a lot of attractions, the sand dunes and the camels and the gompa... So, one night here is a done deal... The other night should ideally be at Sumur, where there is the 'Samsta-ling' monastery... Check out this thread which will surely give you ALL the details and much much more... Ladakh in 5 Days...???!!! (Or 6 or 7 or 10 or 15...!!!) Cheers...! |

There is no way to contact them, though a travel agent in Leh might be able to book in advance. At the end of the day it really doesn't matters, since only a few people spend the night there.
