Delhi to Leh by car

Hey all
Have been planning a road trip to Ladakh right from my college days. On a Harley Davidson...lol...but 15 years and a marraige later and a li'll bit of maturity you begin to realise that owning a Harley in India is a slightly more difficult decision than buying a house.
So here I am now doing what i had dreamt of. The good part is I have my wife with me, the bad part is my poor substitute for the Harley...a 2004 Ford ikon 1.3 (but i like my car )
I was wondering if any of you experienced travelers can enlighten me on the following areas-

1> The idea of delhi to leh in a ford ikon(its a Sep 2004 model done about 35,000 kms)
2> My travel dates are 5th July to 18th July. With the monsoon in already, is it a good time? especially crossing the state of Himachal Pradesh?
3> Any of you who are driving and would want to join the convoy?
4> Supplies required for such a trip apart from a jerrycan of petrol, some chocolate bars, a 7Mp 3x zoom camera?

1. No problem with Ikon as long as you drive sensibly.

2. The only problem is crossing Himachal, if the route isn't closed then there won't be any major problem.
