Clothing in Ladakh in June
I'm planning on spending the whole of June in Ladakh, and hoping I could get some advice on clothes to bring.
I'm told average temps in June are about 2C - 18C, but what kind of 'cold' is it? Sometimes 2C feels colder than -15C! How does the altitude affect the perceived temperatures? I own a ski jacket, a softshell (windproof but not particularly warm) jacket, merino wool base layers etc, but this might be far more than needed. I'll probably do a bit of trekking, and a lot of meditation... Thanks. |

Definitely bring layers. Sounds like what you have is good.
At that high altitude the sun feels very warm in the daytime and the cold feels very cold once the sun goes down. Beginning of June may be colder than later in June. I was there in August and even then the nights were very chilly. |

Dress in layers and keep your head covered, most of the cold is due to wind chill factor so do bring that softshell jacket to be worn over sweaters/jackets.
