Cost of Stok Kangri
Hi Roushan
I was thinking of doing this in September. Could you tell me the costs involved like, permit guide, porter if necessary?

Hi patriciamarinic,
For me it was like practically no costs involved except daily requirements like food. I was carrying my own tent, sleeping bags and hired the necessary equipments like crampons and ice axe. Since you will be going in September, may be you won't require crampons and ice axe. They even have a restaurant with basic staying arrangements, so you can even do away with carrying your own food and tent. You can even get a guide if needed at the base camp itself. So don't go by what everybody out there has to do, its perfectly doable solo. Tell me if you require some assistance on any issues you face or even trying to arrange anything ranging from equipments to guide. You can PM me.
Cheers!!

Hi Roshan,Congratualtions, now you have my full attention.
Going solo, thats even more interesting.
Can i know what is your background/experience in trekking / alpine climbing ?
Does one need to have mountaineering / rock climbing skills ?
How difficult was it to get a permission ?
So many questions, are you planning a write-up ? that would be wonderful.
I would like to know more about it, can we connect ?
Regards
Nomad.

Hi Noman_Traveller,
Too many questions.
I have been trekking for some time, although not much compared to the experienced ones out there. May be it has more to do with the attitude, fitness levels and the level of mental preparedness. I have been travelling solo since last one and half to 2 years to some of the most extreme locations whether biking or trekking. Thta experiences do halep me a lot. As they say, whatever doesn't kill you, simply makes you stronger.
Although I have done little bit of rock climbing, you don't need that there.
Getting the permission was not that hard as I was able to convince the IMF guy in Leh that I can do it solo and come back successfully.
About writing, have started a little bit about it. Takes a lot of time, I am so lazy. And then, so many travels to do away with. Will take some tie before I really get into it.
We can connect on gmail. You have my id on my profile. It also has a link to my Facebook id. Do add em there. In case you happen to come to Delhi, do give me a call. I will mention my number in the mail.
Catch you there,
Cheers!!
