Someone said 2 nights and 3 days manali to leh, unless you are really going slow its fine, but I usually stay at sarchu on first night and reach leh by second day afternoon.

Kaushik I told you earlier an RX100 is no dismal jimmy but seems you cant trust that, wish if I was riding this year too but I am not. Only from personal experience I can tell you a well mentained RX can hold a bull by ears and whack her silly in twisters. Hope this helps if it doesn’t then I will say take a bullet because otherwise a rider on a bike in which he has no confidence will cause trouble sooner or later anyways.

Well said HH. I know, I know, you told me but it is as you pointed about confidence above. I need to rebore my engine. My pet machine's heart will be opened up. Right now, it lacks a little power in the 4th gear. Its really crying to be opened up. After that, I will do a small trip to say sangla or something. I may gain confidence, then I am going. I will prefer to do it on a yamaha, as so far that has been my bike.

ashishpdy, if you don't know much about bullets, it is better you meet one of the big guys in LP like Lalli singh. I went there a week back to just do a reci and they have some bullets with really nice feel, but then even I am new to bullets except for the odd rides.

Lali is overrated he could not fix my 500 clutch plates way back in 1990 and i had to sell off that beast nearly for price of junk, though after that i never drove Enfield again, and i saw lamentable improvement both with Enfield and lali's work in years to come.

hey guys any news about weather on the way to leh? also when is the manali-leh road opening? me and my friend is thinking of going to leh in the last week of june on pulsars. do u think its better if we take kashmir-leh route while going there and while coming back take manali-leh route? i am asking this, since we cant delay our plans.

srinagar leh route takes a day extra but plus point is, no mountain sickness or crazy steeps to tackle, and way back to manali your acclimatization wont be a prob. june end zozila might be VERY wet wretched and windy but overall weather will be nice in june end.

@Tiger - The highway is open. But there is still a lot of Black ice... and passes open for only a few hrs each day. We reached Rohtang Jot at 5 AM and encountere lotsa black ice. The road was snowed out 1 Km from the Jot which was cleared only by 10 AM . The BRO said that they can only keep the pass open for a few hrs each day for tourist vehicles.. I wud say wait atleast till mid july... or if you want to rough it out now.. keep plenty of buffer time for the trip.. it wud be one big adventure no doubt.. with snow all along the route and water streams across the road.. talked to a few drivers who did the route during the last few dayz.. and they say that snow is causing problems..

@crimsonriver dont hav either buffer time neither do we hav option of delaying the trip! salil has already got 12days off's, so either we try to do it right now or else i can do it some time later this year but salil wont have that option! so we would hav to some how do it.
