Hi
Firstly, I'm very glad I found this site before my first trip to India....heaps of useful (and entertaining!) posts. As part of my inaugural visit, I'm going to be doing some trekking in Ladakh...I have 2 questions which have sort of been dealt with before, but I need a little more info.... 1. Tipping after the trek.....what is the standard amount? I've seen someone else suggest 1 day's tip for every 10 days of trek....is that to be shared among the cook/guide, etc, or do they each get the full day's worth? For our trek, we're getting 1 guide, 1 cook, 2 ponymen....what would they each hope to get at the end of a 9 day trek? 2. How possible is it to rent equipment in Leh? In particular, we're going to need a couple of sleeping bags.....are they readily available for hire? (Again, I know this has kind of been explored before, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer!) Thanks in advance...... ![]() |
