Trip advice for Manali & shimla

Hi, I am planning my vacations for Manali and shimla in mid september 09. i need advice on following:
A)Route advice from manali to shimla. what would be the general weather condition in sept month at manali, shimla, rohtang pass?
B)What is the best overnight destination between manali and shimla(as i want to break the journey of manali to shimla)?
C) Advice on good shopping place in manali, shimla and around.
D)Eating joints in both the above mentioned places?

I have never been to Shimla (but have been both to Chail and Barog) but Manali is full of restaurants and shopping stuff!

Hi Mridula, as you said that u visited chail n barog, can u tell me what r the attraction points in chail. i hav to plan for one day around shimla n i m not able to decide b/w chail or kufri.

I remember Chail (went long back in 2001) for beautiful long walks. I remember a cricket ground and not much else. But we are very fond of walking and evaluate a place for the kind of walks it offers.

we are also travelling from Manali to Shimla by Sep mid. when are you travelling to Shimla? We have booked Woodville Palace for our stay in Shimla. Any reviews on that place?

Abhishek,

a) What tour advice you need? Weather would be pleasant. Rohtang will be colder.
b) Its a 230 Km journey from Manali to Shimla. Do you really want to break it. Best location between the 2 points would be Narkanda which is 65 Kms before Shimla while comming from Manali.
c) There is no shopping malls as in Delhi. Mall road at both places has a good number of shops.
d) There is no big names in eating joints. Best restaurants are located on the mall road. Roam around and find out which one you like.
