Travel arrangements

Hi all

We are planning a 3-4 trip from punjab to manikaran - manali.

The plan is to get a private taxi from Jullundhar to Manikaran. Stay 1 night, then get a bus to manali. Stay 3 nights, then get a bus back to Chandigarh.

Now for the questions....

How regular/reliable is the bus service from manikaran to manali?

What would i expect to pay for the 9hr cab ride to manikaran (bearing in mind i would be paying tourist rates)?

What would i expect to pay for an a/c bus ride from manikaran to manali, and manali, and manali to Chandigarh?

You would have to catch buses going towards Manali which pass through Manikaran.

For taxi you would have to pay for to and back rates.

From Manali to Chandigarh there is a HRTC Tata A/c bus costing Rs 400/- per seat.

There are Volvo buses also but you would have to catch a bus going to Delhi and get down at Chandigarh. It would be costing more than TATA A/c.

You can book those tickets online using hp.gov.in/hrtctickets/

Apart from HRTC buses you have HPTDC buses also but tickets can not be booked online. They have to be booked at the counter.
