too hot to visit delhi in June? + Manali question
I will be visiting Delhi on 21 June for 2 weeks. Will it be too hot? Any suggestion on short side trips? I am considering to attend few yoga class in either Delhi and Manali for trekking.
Few questions:
- will it be ok to travel Manali alone? (a single woman)
- Is it ok to take the train from Delhi to Shimla?
- Is there any biking in Manali?
- How long does it take to go from Manali to Leh?
Sorry for asking so many questions. Any help will be great. TMCAT

Don't know....does a forecast of 109 degrees F and Smoke deter you?
Reject violence.
It's extremely hot in Delhi at that time of year and if you're not used to that kind of heat along with all the dust and smoke, it can be quite difficult on you. I was there last year around the same time and the only time I ventured out was in the late evening.
Manali on the other hand will be much more pleasent with temps in the 70's to 80's.

Thanks... now I probably will spend 1 or 2 days in Delhi before hopping to a bus to Manali. However, anyone would tell me the route/ steps if I want to take the train or 'toy train' to Manali? Do I need to book the seat in advance?
Quote:
HiTake a train to Pathankot and then take a bus/vehicle for Manali. If interested in a toy train go to Kalka(Kalka Mail from Old Delhi station at 2245 hrs, AC-2 would be a good bet) and then to Shimla in the toy train.
Takes about 5 hours. From Shimla take a bus to Manali.
Many many options available, even advance booking from Shimla Bus Stand,1 km from the Railway station. You can walk down to the bus stand if you follow the train line, it ends at the bus stand.
My experience of last week is that you can get on the first class of the daily train to Shimla, not the Tourist trains, without much hassle.
However if you try to reserve, the waiting list would be too long. Talk to the Ticket Collector at Kalka station and he would be helpful. Insist on a First Class Seat. Costs about Rs 245.
Bye
Hi
Hi,
From Delhi to Shimla ... The toy train journey is great ... To Manli via the Jalori Pass ... A day at gishaini ... Over to Kullu and Manali .. Staying at Naggar and on to Manali ... Mountain Biking is possible in Manali ... I forget the agency and the number but it is a guy named Raju who organises it there ... If one enquires then it is easy to find people in Manali ...
Happy Trippin,
Dhananjay
