Tell your driver - unless he's been that way recently, he has no right to presume anything. So, simplest thing to do is stop at Aut, which you have to pass by either way, and ASK the locals! Simply, if there are jeeps coming from the direction of the pass reguarly, it's open for Innovas.
The pass is open for traffic >>>
We will be traveling by Tempo Traveler from Sarahan to Kullu via Jalori Pass on 8th or 9th May 2010.
But when I enquired from HP Tourism Mumbai office, they are not sure whether Jalori Pass will be opened during May second week. They say this year there is heavy snowfall so possible that it may not open till then.
Also when Travelling from Narkanda to Kullu the same Jalori Pass has to be crossed or there is a different route all together.
Need guidance what is the position generaly during 1st and 2nd week of May month and whats the best alternate.
Thanks in advance

Jalori Pass - Last week of December
Hi all,
Is the Jalori pass open in the last week of December? I was planning to head to Kasol from Shimla via this pass. Is it advisable or should I take the saner
alternate routes.

Guys, Iam confused here. Iam going to bike from Manali to Recong-peo and further explore Kinnaur. This will be 2nd Jun this year. Can someone tell me the different routes that I can take from Manali via Kullu to recong peo? There are lots of mentions of Jalori pass, but in the map Iam seeing, there seems lot many routes. For instance, Bashlco pass via Sarahan. I would really love to stop by Sarahan on the way to recong peo.
Can someone here post detailed route to take from Manali to recong peo? Also please suggest a good scenic route to take. I plan to do this distance in a day. Will that be possible? Distance? time it will take? etc. Info on this will really useful

Well, the standard route is via Jalori, certainly for 4-wheelers. AFAIK part of the way via Bashleo pass is kachcha. You would have to divert at Banjar towards Gushaini, Sarahan, Arsu and Rampur. This route would in fact be shorter than via Jalori.
@Dilliwala, thanks for the info. I dont mind the Kachcha road as long as it is motorable. The big question on my mind is can this done in a day? Suppose I start at 5:00AM from Manali will I be able to reach Peo by 6:00PM atleast? Which route would you recommend? I get mixed reaction from different people, so iam not sure. My whole plan is tightly wound around this, so if you cold share your thoughts it will be helpful :-)
It should be possible to reach R/Pio in one day - I left Manali by car at 9 am, crossed Jalori and reached Shimla after 10 pm.
I have never been on the Bashleo route so can't tell you anything about motorability. Hopefully vasuki can chip in with better info (send him a PM pointing out this thread). Otherwise - go upto Banjar (diversion is just before you enter the main part of Banjar), check with the locals, and if you're advised against it you can still go via Jalori.
