Possible route Manali all down east to Assam.

Is there sufficient buses to take a person East from starting in manali down to assam.
The route proposed going through all the valleys and mountanous area along the southern nepal border, or even maybe into nepal for some of the journey. Then keep going through sikkim (darjeeling - bongaigaon -tezpur - dibrugarh) this rough area/route..

What would transport links be like. not necessarily going through those exact villiages, but travelling through that area for a few months? I'm considering travelling through that area in january - march ish. hopefully the places where theres hardly any (if any) tourists..... or would transport links be a problem?

given the fact that I'd be aiming to stay away from the tourist trail (places like parvati etc) i dont know how successful i am going to be on this fact finding mission! but if anyone knows anything that may be of help on this mission please do give your input

it is better if you can hire motorcycle and a road guide who know hindi language it best way to travel in india or in nepal where you want to go you can go

Come down to Shimla from Manali and you can get a direct bus to Tanakpur, Nepal border in Uttrakhand. Himachal and Uttrakhand Roadways ply direct buses to Tanakpur.

I like the idea of getting a motorcycle. I have a CBT license in the uk which is anything up2 125cc. Would the same license work in India for up 2 125cc?
How much do any size engine motorbike lessons cost in India anyone know anything about that?

Also other than those indian bikes that look like an old fashoned harley davidson (the really famous ones, cant remember the name) is there lots of honda/yamaha/suzuki from 250-600 to choose from?

scotsman if you are looking for long route plan i suggest you royal enfield (350cc or 550cc)it is best for long route bikeing for mountains in india the cost of per bike is rupess 300 to 400 per day first can you tell your route plan then i will suggest you where you can hire a motorcycle in india where you land up first in india
