im just curious -

some recommend one company and others another. seems to me that hptdc is just easier to get to from parganghj and all volvo buses being = and the prices are the same as well no?

hptdc seems the logical choice. plus. id heard that the HRTC bus can drive round town for 90 minutes before departing -

best choice???

I'm taking HPTDC bus from Chandralok building (2nd building after Cottage Industries emporium while walking away from inner circle of cannought place) on Janpath.
I find them better than the private bus operators.

HPTDC is a point to point service, with max. two halts en route for meals. HRTC is likely to have many halts, at various places on the way, like Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Ambala, Kiratpur, Swarghat, Bilaspur, Sundernagar, etc.

This is what I feel, may be wrong.

We've always taken the HPTDC bus from Chanderlok Buildings.

Their office is at the back of the building, RH side on the ground floor and the bus departs from the road behind the building.

EDIT

I think Shimla is right. The HPTDC bus only stops a few times on the way for meals etc.
What a long strange trip it's been!

Thumbs down WARNING: "blue world tourist" bus from delhi to manali

Luckily we survived our bustrip with the above mentioned bus company to Manali. The drivers were racing like crazy, one stimulating the other, which ended in a serious crash with a truck this morning. Glass was everwhere, people got cuts in their faces and all over the body. Fortunately nobody got killed, but it didn't miss much.

I haven't heard of the "Blue World" bus company - whereabouts do they operate from in Delhi?

We've always found the drivers of HPTDC fairly sedate and reponsible. Of course, no matter how careful your driver is, there is always the chance of a collision with another vehicle.

If you're a believer say a prayer before the journey begins, if not then hope for the best.

Hi

Hi,
I would never travel from Delhi to manali, shimla or Dharamshala with a private operator ... I think the HRTC and Himachal Tourism buses are absolutely great and without the whole drill of getting squeezed by these private operators ..

Cheers,
Dhananjay

Hi somalanjarlekar,

You might get late night bus service from ISBT. However, would suggest you not to go with private operators there as my experince with them has been very pathetic. They are just concerned about their money and not at all bothered about any passenger. Further, they may even cancel the trip at last moment.

Best way to go from delhi is to book a ticket in volvo offered by HPTDC. it starts rom delhi by 6.30 p.m almost everyday and even online booking is available fro which you get confirmed reservation ticket too.

Just look if you could prepone your flight ad recah delhi by 3 pm considering all delays so that you can catch the volvo or you can plan manal travel for next day.

Well, you can also split your trip from delhi to chandigarh and check for volvo services and then continue from chandigarh to manali.

All the best for your journey!
