New Delhi to Manali and others

We (me & my wife) will arrive New Delhi on 7th Nov 11:00AM via CAl Rajdhani Express and like to catch bus for Manali at 5:30PM, 8th Nov. My queries are-
1. Do I need to book bus for Manali from New Delhi in advance (any bus which budget are like 500rs to 900rs per person.)
2. Do I need to book hotel in Manali in advance in November?
3. How far Manali bus station is from New Delhi Railway station?
4. Where can I stay around New Delhi Rail Station except Paharganj with a budget of 1000rs (VAT & SC inclusive)?

Please help, as I am almost a new commer to India.

Hi..Please find my suggestions

1. Do I need to book bus for Manali from New Delhi in advance (any bus which budget are like 500rs to 900rs per person.) - Better. I booked in HPTDC. The bus was very neat and punctual. The fare is 1190 per person for A/C Volvo. For Non-A/C buses they charge 900
2. Do I need to book hotel in Manali in advance in November? - Depends. you will get rooms as this being an off season. Suggest you check in Hotel Beas or Kanishka before hand
3. How far Manali bus station is from New Delhi Railway station? - HPTDC Bus starts from Himachal Bhavan, near Connaught place. SHould be approx 7 to 8 KM, Not sure as I am not from Delhi
4. Where can I stay around New Delhi Rail Station except Paharganj with a budget of 1000rs (VAT & SC inclusive)? - Not sure. Preferably in 1st class waiting room in railway station itself rather than going for any hotels..In Chennai, the first class A/C dormitory costs you Rs.350/-

New Delhi Station is 2-3 kms from Connaught place (CP) from where the HPTDC buses leave.

If you are not interested / able to get the accomodation at the railway station, you could consider these two budget hotels at CP where we have stayed a few years back. You could negotiate a day use rate.

This is my first choice if I have to stay in Delhi for work or otherwise. The rooms are okay some have windows on the outside but some do have smoky smell.

2nd Choice, have stayed here once about 5 years ago in month of May. Rooms were better and not smelly. but more expensive than Janpath.

Both the guest houses are very close to each other and the place from where the HPTDC buses leave. You could get there in max 10 mins walk.

As we like to be in Manali at 9th to 11th Nov 2011, i know i will not get snowfall at that time. But
1. Can we get ice around manali? What are the places, how far these are from Manali?
2. Rohtang pass will be open at that time? If not open, how far we can go?

1) Rohtang is only place where you can get snow around Manali.
2) If Rohtang is closed, you can still go upto snow point.

The Himachal Bhawan is barely 2-3 kilometers from the New Delhi Railway Station and wouldn't take you more than 15minutes to get there. You'll be getting off at platform 13, which is the Ajmeri Gate side, shouldn't be more than 3kms from there.

Can anybody give me detail about mobile sim? I like to buy two sim when i will arrive Kolkata. Can i buy those by passports?
If yes which brand i will buy? please help.
