No train to Manali. Quickest way would be train to Delhi and a 11+ hour bus ride to Manali.
Kedar Janani Devasthan, Mt Abu - Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Jhansi,
Satara

Of course I speak to myself. I need expert advice sometimes.

Manali would be cold in December be geared up with leather jackets, gloves etc. Since you have a honeymoon you do not have a choice much with dates and I am hoping you have guys are ready to enjoy the chill.

Now you need to decide upon a budget for your trip along with a tentative duration.

Now to your questions -
1. There are no direct trains to manali. The usually chosen option is go to delhi and take a cab or a Volvo to Manali. try to google and you will find some options on buses from delhi to manali.
The journey is long and tiring (atleast was for me in a cab) You can also try out mumbai to chandigarh by train and then a bus to manali. Keep in mind I did not find any volvo options from chandigarh. They are normal buses.
Choose what you think is apt for your honeymoon.

2. Its your honeymoon and also the coldest time of the year so choose a hotel which has hotwater in your bathroom, a heater in your room etc. Do not overlook them. Many Mumbaikars do not know what cold weather is

3. Quite a lot of spots- but its more of enjoying the place then running on the site seeing spree. Go to the hidamba temple, also check out the wooden palace on the hilltop (forgot its name- its where the song in Jab we met was shot) and also check out other places of interest in the similar threads.

I particularly hated the club where it was like a usual commercial junk of video games, disco etc. I particularly did not want to do all that when surrounded by such natural beauty. Thats a personal choice though.

You might be halting at Simla enroute- which I found to be too commercial and touristy.

And Congrats for getting married ! !

1. How to reach Manali from Mumbai by TRAIN?

As stated in above post, one cannot reach Manali directly from Mumbai. You can take a train from Bandra terminus to Kalka, Shivalik toy train from Kalka to Shimla, shimla to Manali by HPTDC bus.

or

Mumbai to Chandigarh by train and Chandigarh to Manali by bus.

2) There are lot of budget hotels recommended by IM'ers, please refer following link

3)Refer http://hptdc.nic.in, there are many package...

Depends on you if you are comfortable with the idea. If it makes you feel uncomfortable it's better to book ahead or take the evening bus that reaches Manali in the morning. But than you have to spend the night in a bus which is maybe something you want to avoid while on honeymoon.
You shouldn't have a problem getting a room either way, there will be touts (who will be eager to get you a room) at the bus station when you get in anyways.

Instead of coming to Shimla you can stay at Chandigarh for the night. Chandigarh is one station before Kalka.

Next morning you can take a cab or bus to Manali. There is a HRTC A/C bus from Chandigarh to Manali at 8.30 am. The bus will leave from Sector 43 bus station. (There are 2 bus stations in Chandigarh)This bus can be booked online on HRTC website.
There are other ordinary buses also available in the morning to Manali.

Once you reach Kalka, there will be no connecting train to Shimla. You will have to hire a taxi to reach Shimla. If Shimla is not in your scheme of things, stay at Chandiagrh for the night and leave for Chandigarh the next morning.

Alternatively, you can get down at Delhi and take a night VOLVO from Delhi to Manali. VOLVO buses leave between 5-8 pm from Delhi. The best is the Himachal Tourism VOLVO and can be booked online. HRTC also runs VOLVO to Manali and can be booked from the above mentioned link. There are a few private VOLVOs available namely of Raj travels and Swagatam tours.

These buses leave from Connaught Place area which is very near to New Delhi Railway Station. Only the HRTC VOLVO leaves from ISBT Mori Gate.

Hope this helps!
