Manali with my kid!

Hi,
Am planning to visit manali with my wife and 18 month old Daughter on 7th Nov-11th Nov from Delhi.

so please help me to plan:
1: Best mode of travel.- Taxi or Volvo(traveling with a baby)
Iam planning to book the taxi for return.

2: Where to stay: HPTDC hotels or Private ones. Am not looking for very expensive ones, decent ones, as am going to be in hotel only to rest

3: Can i visit Rohtang at this time?

4: where can i do Paragliding?

Please help me . Am little worried as it will be my baby's first trip!.
Please suggest anything you think i should do apart from the questions i asked.

hi vikram .
best mode would be taxi for you because anywhere you can stay for rest ..
this time you will get so much of good budget hotels in manali and shimla..
i am not sure you can visit rohtang this time but it depends on weather and road conditions.

Thank you very much for ur reply. I have one more query,

Am in Manli from 7th-11th.
13th am planning for Vaishnav Devi.
So on 11th night i come back to delhi reach Delhi on 12th.
Take rajdhani to jammu. Reach Vaishnav Devi on 13th.
Is it OK or i go directly to Jammu from Manali. If yes than HOW?

hi .
i think it will be more better that you rather going to delhi. come to chandigarh stay at chandigarh and next day you can take volvo for jammu its only 7hrs journey from chandigarh to jammu you can save your journey time...that will be better for your 18months old kid....

direct rout for manali to jammu is---- Manali to jammu--- via Pathankot, Kangra, Jogindernagar and Mandi. This route is unparalleled for natural beauty. The journey time is approx. 16 hrs by bus and by taxi atleast 12 hrs... and if you will hire car for this route you can stay at kangra..

now you can choose option...

Sounds good!

Staying overnight in kangra seems better.. as i will be going by taxi. But how about dharamshala for overnight stay? Or you prefer kangra only. How much time it takes from manali to kangra or dharmashala? Please advice

Hi Vikram
I visited Kullu and Manali on October 1st week, 2009. HRTC Volvo buses are GOOD but since it is a long journey (around 16 hrs), it is preferable to take a cab from Delhi. There are many budget hotels there but HPTDC hotels would be my choice. We stayed in Beas Hotel which is on the banks of Beas river. Hotel was very good. It is around 5 min walk from the Mall Road and the Bus Stand.
You can do Paragliding in Solang Valley which is around 15-20 kms from Manali.
Dont miss Rohtang pass. If the weather is bad , then the route would be blocked. When we went there was no snow fall and went till the top. Awesome scenary.
You can visit Manu temple, Hadimba temple and Vashist HotSprings. These places are very close by..
There is not much anything in Kullu. You can do White water rafting and shopping in Kullu.

thanks guys! I asked some people they are saying rather than goin to Manali from delhi, I go to Dharashala , Paragpur etc and head towards Jammu. What you guys suggest?

Then the best thing would be to board the train from Delhi to Jammu. Then go to Katra where Vaishno Devi temple is situated. While returning go back to Jammu and board a bus to Dharmashala.
From Dharmashala you can go to Pragpur.
