Manali trip

Hi guys,
This is my first post in this foroum . I am planning for a trip to manli/kulu from 8th -20th dec (12 days) with my friends(4 ppl) We are from kerala so about 7days will be taken for the travel. Being from a tropical climte our main intention is to enjoy the snow and skiing. So can u suggest which is the best place for skiing(manali/kulu/kufri). Also should we come prepared with the woolen clothes or could we buy it out there. Thanks in advance

Assume you are travelling by train, thus the long travel time. It may not snow in Manali in December beginning, but you can go higher up and find snow. Skiing in December is again suspect - more experienced members can give a more accurate view and suggest any places higher up where skiing is possible.

On the clothing - while you can buy when you reach there, carry atleast one set so that you don't freeze on recahing there. If you are passing through Delhi and have some transit time, you can easily buy from Delhi (near the station).

The skiing at Manali in winter, is at Solang. In mid December there might not be enough snow for skiing, of course you will need some heavy woolens, if possible take some thermal inner wear.
At Solang when there is no snow, you can do zorbing (a giant ball with room for 2 people which is rolled down hill), paragliding, parachuting and horse riding. A ropeway was recently opened
