Manali to Delhi by bus

Hi everybody,

does anybody know how to book a "de luxe" bus from Manali to Delhi?
In Web sites of bus companies it seems that it is possible to book only Delhi-Manali.
Are there any agencies in Delhi or in Leh where one can book the seats?

I don't know about Leh. However, you can book the tickets at the Himachal Tourism office in Janpath at Delhi. I don't know if this helps you since I don't think this can be done online... :-(

You can contact them when you are in Manali to book a Delhi ticket.

Also, there are lots of Tour Operators on Main Road. You can just walk-in to any of them and they should be able to help you out.

There is also a Luxury Bus 12 metres long coach with two TVs, VCD and air-condition. More leg space, Mobile charger unit, thigh rest , seat belts, complimentary mineral water, candies and biscuit packet.
The Bus leaves Manali on 2/4/6/8...(even dates) of every month from Manali & Odd days from Delhi. The Fare(one way) is approx Rs 850/-.
You can contact any good Travel Agency in Delhi for booking it.
Leaves from Gate No. 8 of Shivaji Stadium, very close from Connaught Place & New Delhi Rly Stn.

Hello Opus, You can book your Manali To Delhi "Deluxe" bus online through http://www.himachalhotels.in . The departure time is 4.20 pm and fare per person is Rs.600.
You can check their website for Volvo-AC bus also ...fare is Rs.850.

So it seems thar www.himachalhotels.in offers on line reservation for Manali to Delhi bus travel, but it's not clear to me which bus company I am going to book (this website it's a sort of online travel agency): anyone knows?

One last question: which is the difference between "DeLuxe Bus" and "Volvo A/C bus" ? Is it just air conditioning, or is it an overall better quality of the bus (i.e. leg space, reliability,...)?

on http://www.himachalhotels.in/bus_booking.asp u can book tickets for travel on HRTC i.e Himachal Road Transport Corporation which is a company run by the government of Himachal Pradesh State & hence relaible.

Deluxe buses are pretty comfy buses ( manufactured by indian companies ) but do not hav airconditioning & the ride comfort cant match swedish Volvo buses which have more leg space & the highly effective airconditioning keeps the dust & pollution out, so the extra Rs.250 that u hav to shell out is certainly worth it!

At last I managed to book and pay at the himachalhotels site.
I have the tickets!
You can book from any country, although only "India" appears in the "Country" box of the booking form.
At first they sent us the wrong tickets (Delhi to Manali instead of Manali to Delhi), but after calling them they sent the correct ones.

Bye bye, I am leaving today

Plz do not expect anything "de luxe" in those buses running between delhi and manali.
