Manali To Amirstar By Bus

We are planing to visit manali at april end . we also planing to visit amirstar by then . Is there any bus service avilable i mean direct from manali to amirstar , kindly furnish the deatiles

Himachal Road Transport runs an ordinary bus from Manali(15=30) to Amritsar(next day 08=00).

The route is via Mandi, Jawali, Una, Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar.

Hello supria !

Yes, advance booking for this bus is possible upto a month before your date of travel, but this has to be done at the booking counters of Himachal Roadways in the state. Outside the state they have provided this facility at Chandigarh(Sector 43) and Delhi(ISBT).

Currently their online booking facility has been suspended.

Himachal Roadways do not have a luxury coach on this route; I'm not aware of anyone else having the same.

No, I haven't travelled on this bus.

The distance is 410 kms., if you hire a taxi from Manali, they'll charge you for return too, ie. for 820 kms. The cost per km. depends on the type of vehicle you hire, and the season in which you do so, generally beginning from Rs.4/km.

is correct-bus shall be fine for budget traveller but hiring a taxi could be costlier.

Shimla ! rates quoted to me are almost double for TOYOTA QUALIS ( A/C )and @6 INR/km for TATA SUMO ( NON A/C Studry jeep ).

The buses of HRTC are good especially on interstate roots. The seats are ordinary Rexene seats but are contoured and slightly tilted and have an armrest on the aisle seats. But on the hilly routes the seats at rear are very bumpy. If you want to travel by an ordinary bus from Amritsar to Manali, take seats in middle of the bus, on the left side. I don't recommend a one go travel to Manali from Amritsar as it’s approximately a 16 hour’s journey and will certainly be very tiring as the Amritsar to Manali bus will travel for more than 10 hrs in hills. As far as comfort is concerned with respect to temperature while traveling from Amritsar to Manali via Pathankot, it will not be very hot after some 5 hours of journey.

If you want to travel by deluxe bus, you can come down to Chandigarh by a Deluxe bus from Amritsar. It will take approximately 5 hours. You can find out the deluxe buses for Chandigarh from Amritsar. From Chandigarh to Manali you can get a variety of busses AC and Non AC buses. It will take 10 hours from Chandigarh to Manali.

So the total traveling time will remain same but here in this case you will be traveling in hills for 8 hours and for 7 hours in plains.

Total Distance: Amritsar to Manali via Pathankot 410 Kms

Total Distance: Amritsar to Manali via Chandigarh 581 Kms

Night travel from Manali to Chandigarh is generally safe.
HRTC's A/C Deluxe volvo bus leaves Manali at 17=00 for Delhi, via Chandigarh. It reaches Chandigarh at 03=00, an odd time.

Is there any late night bus service ?
please give the timeings. Because after visting snow point(Rothanpass),
the same day we want to get down to Chandigarh

I'm afraid I do not know of any late night buses leaving Manali for Chandigarh.

However, if you wish to catch the Volvo, you can always hire a taxi for Rohtang, leave early and return to Manali by 4.00 p.m.

Buses start moving from 4.o PM and you can catch 6.30, 7 and 7.30 and one/two buses also go after 7...may be upto 8 but...this is easy to catch.
Booking is done at spot also and from those booking offices which are directly oppsote to exit of bus stand of manali.

They should charge not more than 250 for Chandigarh...may be now litle bit more...due to hike in patro..

These buses reach Chandigarh..22 sector...early in morning..say 5.30 to 6.30 ...no fix time...they have to run for Delhi.
