Hi AtlantaDesi,
Flights reaching Delhi at the peak hours generally get delayed by abt 30 mins or so - so u shld be out of the airport by 5:30 odd. So u have enough time for the HRTC bus! I've travelled twice with HPTDC & reached manali after 12:30 both times - despite perfect weather! |

great info
thanks again Sabby & Rishabh!
No point going thru the hassle of changing flight reservations to get there earlier for HPTDC - since HPTDC also gets there ~noon generally - i dont see a big advantage (unless one really wanted HPTDC's non-volvo full sleeper bus). I guess it will be HRTC then ![]() |

There are lot of cases reported from BHUNTAR when tourists were not informed about any cancellations and money was not refunded.
I strongly suggest not to take air-route [ sabby-yourpsot was great ! ]There are thousand+1 reason why they cancel a flight and most popular reason is weather. But do not get shocked if you loose your money. |

HRTC makes more sense certainly & it has the added advantage of online reservation - whereas with HPTDC u have to book tickets in person at their delhi office & even more ridiculous is the fact that they dont even let you book Manali - Delhi tickets from Delhi
Hope you have a great time in Manali AtlantaDesi! cheers! sabby Quote:

Hi All,
I am back again with a specific query. I am planning to take the following HRTC A/c Volvo bus on 21st Feb 07 from Manali: MANALI-DELHI [AC VOLVO] 17:00 PM It is supposed to reach Delhi by 07:30 AM. I have to catch an Air-Sahara flight on 22nd Feb fron New Delhi Airport at 12:35 pm. So, I want to know usually by what time will the HRTC A/c volvo bus reach Delhi (travel date 21st Feb)? Please respond based on your travel experience. thanks Ritesh |

hey ritesh
hey, i cant speak from "experience". But, from the reading/research i have done so far - assuming HRTC drops u off at the ISBT Kashmiri Gate bus station - you need to set aside a good 90 minutes commute time to get to the airport + 90 minutes check-in/reporting time for Air Sahara + 2 hours buffer for delayed bus arrival. In all, 5 hours. 7:30 + 5:00 = 12:30. I think you are well covered dude. Then again, we are not accounting for a twice-a-year-bus-breakdown chance!
Just kidding.. i think your timing is safe. Others with more experience might be able to comment further! Good luck. |

You'll reach Delhi by abt 8 latest so you have more than enough time to get to the airport for your flight! Hope you have a great holiday! cheers! sabby Quote:

hi guys,
thanks a lot for all your advice. I am done with my trip to Manali. I was supposed to take an Air Deccan flight to Kullu, but it got cancelled at the last moment. However I was prepared for this and took a private a/c volvo bus to Manali (both hrtc and hptdc buses were full). The fare was decent (900/-) and bus trip was decent as well, and reasonably on time. We reached Manali at 9 am. I had taken Sun City Travels' A/c Volvo bus. So overall I found that private buses are doable, though when I came back by HRTC volvo i found them to be much better. This is just fyi, if need be don't be afraid to take a private a/c volvo, it's not as comforatble as a hrtc/hptdc bus but is still decent. Btw, my HRTC volvo started from Manali at 5:30 pm and reached ISBT Delhi at sharp 7 am next day, so taking connecting flight was not a problem. |

some more info on govt a/c volvo buses:
HRTC: Daily one a/c volvo bus from Manali-to-Delhi and Delhi-to-Manali. The one from Manali starts at 5:30 pm, not sure about the dep time of the one from Delhi. Fare = 885/-, includes a 1 lt mineral water bottle, a pack of Haldiram potato wafers and unlimited supply of sickness bags! Seats are extremely comfortable (best i have used) with proper back rest recline and leg rest as well. (the seats unfold to make a full length bed inclined at 45 degrees to the horizontal). HPTDC: Daily 2 a/c volvo buses from delhi-to-manali and manali-to-delhi. Dep times of the ones from manali are 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Fare=825/- One more piece of very very useful info. Try to book seats between 9 to 22. On a seat < 9 you'll face problem with glare of vehicles coming from opposite direction, whereas a seat > 22 will have lot of lateral vibration at every bump making your journey very uncomfortable. This advice has been posted before, but I have revised the preferred seat number range based on my personal experience. |
