The latter route seems to be shorter by about 50km but is worth taking? Has anyone taken the the road via Nalagarh? How's it? I'd be driving up in a Maruti Swift.[/quote]
It is not recommended bcoz Pinjore to Nalagarh road is vey Narrow & lot of Traffic of Trucks. It is due to Industrial Area Buddi. So stick to Ambala-Chandigarh-Ropar route. If you want to avoid Chandigarh then go straight on NH1 from Ambala & take right after Rajpura on Road to Ropar via Fatehgarh Sahib. By this you can save some time & traffic is also thinner on this road.

Apart from Hadimba Temple, Rohtang Pass & Solang Valley, there are many other spots there:
1. Arjun Gufa - It's on the bank of river Beas at Prini village. 2.Jagatsukh Temple - It is famous for its ancient Shiva temple. 3. Koti - It is a pretty little village at the foot of Rohtang Pass. River Beas enters a chasm here which is about 61m deep and just few metres broad. 4. Vashisth Hot Sulphur Springs - They are in a small village near Manali. The springs are said to carry medicinal properties. 5.Naggar - A beautiful village with a beautiful castle.

Trip to Shimla-Manali in Feb'10.
Hi guys,
Me and my wife are planning a 10 day trip to Manali-Shimla during around 10th of Feb,2010.Would be travelling from Chennai to Delhi and then towards Manali/Shimla.Request some suggestions on the below points: 1. Which would be the better way to start...Delhi to manali or Delhi to Shimla ? Planning to stay in Manali for abt 4-5 days and in Shimla for abt 1-2 days. ? Delhi-manali-shimla-kalka-delhi ( the last leg by train) OR Delhi-kalka-shimla-manali-delhi ?? 2.How Cold will the weather be in Manali/Shimla in feb ? We are hoping to catch some Snow as well...but will the cold be bearable / Enjoyable ?? Will it be a good time for sightseeing? 3. Hows the volvo bus ride from manali to delhi? thats all i can think of now...hope to get some good views... Cheers. |

Hi Karthik
I visited Simla, Kullu and Manali this October. According to me, you can go to Simla from Delhi. HRTC Volvo buses are very comfortable and the journey hours is around 8-9 hrs. For seeing Simla, 2 days is sufficient. We went to Kufri in the first day.(In Travel brochure they mentioned around 10 spots, but all were there in Kufri!). Second day, we went to Tattapani which is around 50 kms from Simla. There was WhiteWater Rafting in the Sutlej river. Water was ferocious and National Championship for rafting used to take place nearby(We are not allowed there!). This place was superb and we did rafting for around 7-8kms!!! For seeing Manali, 4 days is sufficient. During Feb, Cold will be bearable. It is the best time to visit. Snow fall may be there. Rohtang Pass is a must see. But it depends on the weather. If the weather is Bad, then the route will be closed. You can never predict when it ll be open or closed. We returned to Delhi by boarding HRTC Volvo buses. They are very comfortable and it is around 16 hrs Journey. Happy and Safe Journey! Regards Arvind |

Hi guys! I am totally new here and still trying to figure out how this thing works, so spare me if I ask something which has already been asked a zillion times.
I am planning to go to Manali with my friends sometime in Mid November. We are from Mumbai. We intend to fly to Delhi first and then take a Volvo Bus/Taxi *whichever is more convenient and affordable* to Manali. Now my questions are; 1. Is November a good time to visit Manali if I just want to toke, click photographs and look around? 2. Will it be convenient if we include Malana Village and Parvati Valley in our itinerary? 3. We all love food, so are the good cafes and restaurants open all the time ? *Again, we are going to be there sometime in Mid November* 4. We are a bunch of 'just turned 20' guys.. so, will it be a problem for us to look for accomodation, communicate with locals, find good hash? It'll be really nice of you people if you can guide me a little bit. Thanks a ton! |

Hi
First of all how many days are you planning to stay in Manali ?! November is a good time to visit Manali...You can also find some snowfall during that time.. Trek to Malana village takes around 5-6 days. |

Is Malana village accessible through any other mode except trekking? Also, should we take a guide or just venture there by ourselves? I have heard that touts may dupe new visitors. |
