Manali --- Dirhams ???
Heyy everyone.
So, after much planning we've(me n friends) decided to go to manali. Read some posts as to where we should go, where to put up,etc. and its all great info and has helped me much. I couldn't find this anywhere but in some thread i read u can exchange $ euros ,etc. in the small shops for a rupee or 2 less. I can live with that. But, since no 1 has mentioned about exchange centres, i want to know if these shops exchange UAE Dirhams (AED) as well? As we won't be carryin rupees in a bulk, we want to exchange them as and when we require. Thanks.. S.M. |

I doubt if any local shops will exchange currency (and its probably illegal and risky). It would be advisable to use the services of a bank or exchange agent instead. The following info is from the Kullu.net website:

It would be difficult to exchange Dirhams in Manali.
I guess you can do that in Delhi. Or exchange your Dirhams to Dollars or Euro in Delhi and exchange them in Manali. |

Why take any dirhams at all? Just use an Indian ATM as and when you need it. Suggest you take some extra out for emergencies.

And ohh..thanks a lot "BONDED" , but exchanging dirhams to dollars, etc. and then buying rupees is a loss to me.
1 USD = 3.67 AED 1 USD = 48.7 Rs 1 AED = 13.5 Rs so u c its a pretty big loss if u add it up in huge amounts.. thnks anyways... |
