Manali & Rohtang Pass Vs Shimla & Kalpa

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post! We are planning a trip in the second week of october, but we only have 4 days in the region. Were looking to either fly to Manali and do a side trip to Rohtang Pass Or Fly to Shimla and do a side trip to Kalpa.

We are really looking for the best Alpine scenery (considering of course our time is too short to do a trek). Any advice or even other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

PS: Also wanted to know which of the two choices is closer to Chandigarh)

Chandigarh to Shimla - 115 Kms
Chandigarh to Kalpa - 290 Kms
Chandigarh to Manali - 320 Kms

Both Manali or Kalpa (If you do not stay at Shimla) can be done in days.

Hi,

Manali to Rohtang road is in very poor state. I was there just 3 days back. Shimla to Kalpa is a better alternative. On the way you should visit Narkanda and Bhimakali temple at Sarhan. And if you have one more day visit Chitkul. What you may do is this :

Day 1 Shimla
Day 2 Shimla to Kalpa
Day 3 Kalpa to Chitkul (stay at Chitkul)
