Lahaul Spiti Road trip 1st week July

Hi,

We are planning to do a road trip around Lahaul Spiti in the first week of July. Have a load of questions in my head, hopefully i can get some answers here.

- Initially we were planning to drive, but dropped that plan. However now we are planning to get to Manali & plan from there.
- Firstly what kind of tours operate from Manali to Lahaul & spiti. Are they usually camping trips which cover a shorter distance e.g camping trips to chander tal etc: or can we hire a jeep which does the entire stretch from Manali to shimla passing through kinnaur.
- Are there any reliable tour operators in manali, who can organize a trip to Lahaul spiti, are they more expensive than say hiring a cab from Delhi & going.
- Is Jul 1st week a good time to do a road trip around Lahaul spiti

We are 2 couples, so what would be the best itinerary for Lahaul Spiti

we r a couple from mumbai, planning to visit lahaul and spiti in the first week of july this year too!

i had similar questions to the one you asked. so any help guys?

we are a family of 3 adults starting from Mumbai doing a similar itenary , starting however from Shimla - sangla- Kalpa- Tabo- Kaza - Chandratal- Manali ....starting from 13th July ex shimla for 2 weeks .....looking for sharing a vehicle with a couple...if you have similar plans ...do write at aditi.august@gmail.com

Any one interested in going to Manali and/or Lahaul and Spiti please let us know, we are Delhi based couple planning to go there in End Sept 2009.

U need to find out the weather firstly. also pls gimme ur email Id , can forward a excel file wid contacts and details , we stayed at homestay in Tabo(recommended), small hotel in Mud(recommended) and Nimaling Guest house in Kaza (not recommended) try staying at Hill view Guest house, we travelled in a Tavera , 4 adults for around 12-13 days .....Theog (Shimla)-Sarahan-Chitkool-Sangla-Kalpa-Tabo-Mud-Kaza-Chatru- Manali via the Kunzum pass....we did chandratal lake also
