Chandigarh to Manali
Chandigarh to Manali
Hello,
I am visiting Manali on 8th through 11th
What are the travel options available from Chandigarh to Manali? And how much time do they take?
I am trying to explore from following:
AC Bus (Any night bus service or so)
Taxi drop - We are two, so am thinking to take a Taxi that could give me drop to Manali
Where in chandigarh, I could get Bus or Taxi, is there any good vendor whom I can contact in advance.
Thanks

if u wanna enjoy the hills and take breaks to soak in the beauty of himalayas or for taking pics, hire a personal taxi (tata indica car @ 5 rupees per km).. else go for a deluxe bus option.

the roads are quite good, but after the recent rain fury, i have no idea. still, with ample breaks, it should take u no more than 9-10hours to reach there..

yup,even i think so.
taxis are an expensvie option, but then, they give u the freedom to enjoy.
but some tour operators do charge for one way or something like that on busy routes.. i dont know how busy this route is. jus check around with a couple of taxi operators. u never know..

Hello,
Thanks for all the help and suggestion. Here is what I have planned:
I will travel from Delhi to Chandigarh from my own Car at around 11 Am today.
Leave my car at my friend's place in Mohali.
Take taxi from there to Manali, starting at 6 in the Monday morning. The Taxi will be there with me for 3 days and will then bring me back to Chandigarh on thur. Taxi would be costing me approx Rs 4,200 for Indica and 6k for Tavera. I have asked my friend for option for Scorpio. This amount include visit to Rohtang pass and visit aroung manali.
What do you think this as a plan, and do you think Indica would be ok or Scorio or Tavera would be better.
Cheers!

Hello host,
Cannot really comment on the current weather in H.P., but your idea of taking a taxi for the entire trip including return to Chandigarh, is a good one. This way you are free to travel as you wish, and halt as you please.
You should reach Manali tomorrow evening by 4.00. On Tuesday you can visit Vashisht and Rohtang. On Wednesday visit Jagatsukh and Naggar, before starting the return journey to Chandigarh. You should be back in Chandigarh early Thursday morning.
The above is of course subject to the weather and conditions of the road.
All the best and have a great time in the Abode of the Gods !

There are regular buses plying from Chandigarh to Manals... The 2X2 buses are rough, crude and the drivers -- RASH.... If u have a faint heart... think twice before taking these guys...
I had been on these recently and didn't have much of a problem... But some other passengers did...!
Only 300 bucks one way... Cheap and good...
Trust the guy behind the wheel... he's doing a great job.... After all, even he's gotta live..!
