Asheville to Manali

Hi all. I'm a happy new member,as well as a new resident of Gurgaon, from Asheville, NC in the U.S.(Asheville is in a beautiful southern Appalachian mountain setting, seemingly much like the best of the hill stations). I miss the mountains and am about to take a trip to Manali the last weekend of Sept. I zoned out when I booked the trip and didn't account for transfers to Manali from the airport near Kullu or for transportation around Manali. Any suggestions for the best/safest transfers from the Kullu airport? Also, I've heard the last weekend in Sept. is a holiday weekend in Manali(is that possibly Dussehra)? Thanks for any kind assistance for a newby.

Public transport should not be affected by the holiday. You would get shared cabs from the airport.
