Amritsar to Manali in July

What's the best way to go ? Train to Pathankot and then to Joginder Nagar for a taxi/bus maybe?

July will be a monsoon month in Himachal Pradesh.

The route you can follow is Amritsar-Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Una-Rewalsar-Mandi-Kullu-Manali.

there are a lot of (Direct to Manali) bus operators in and around the pink plaza area in Amritsar right outside the Gandhi Gate !

there is direct bus service from amritsar to manali in the morning time 6am by himachal transport

well friend it will take 10 to 12 hours

on the way city will come kullu mandi bilaspur then it will start punjab state so first place come kiratpur,then anandpur,garshankar.banga, phagwara,jalandhar.bias, amritsar

No Shimla ! Kuldip is right. from Amritsar you travel to Jalandhar-Ropar-from here you leave Chandigarh road and turn to left for Anandpur sahib and enters highway to bilaspur-mandi-kullu and Manali.
Dino ! there is direct bus also but this is STATE buses...will test your bones..better take this option.

1. Reach Chandigarh by bus.
2. get volvo or 2x2 buses from Chandigarh to Manali-this is overnight and early morning...u r in MANALI.

Keep some warm clothing with you in bus-after midnight it gets very cool !!

I suggested the route as it takes one through different territory - Una and Rewalsar - before reaching the common point of Mandi. The Kiratpur-Mandi route via Swarghat is quite common and often used.
